My Wife Turns Out to be an Empress of the Dynasty

Chapter 917: The Gods

After Gu Lan's first sword strike, he no longer sensed any energy within the body of his opponent. This was why he sheathed his sword, assuming the man was dead. But unexpectedly, the figure suddenly sprang up again and launched another attack at him.

Although it only took Gu Lan a single strike to kill the man, he had been watching him closely. He didn't sense any trace of life within that body.

"The methods of the Wizard Clan are quite remarkable," Gu Lan murmured.

Previously, he had known that the Wizard Clan was powerful but hadn't taken them seriously. Now, he realized that these people were no simple foes. Even if a hundred Wizard Gods came at him, he wouldn't fear them. But if they had the ability to control the dead to fight, that could become troublesome. Even if he killed them, they could continue to battle through their resurrected bodies. And even if they weren't killed, they could wear him down with endless attacks.

Gu Lan didn't overthink the situation, and instead, he turned to return to the Jing Nation palace.

Deep within the Wizard Clan

The Wizard God, sitting in a dark chamber, watched the scene before him with a cold smile on his face. With a slight motion of his finger, he sent out a burst of true energy.

The vision in front of him vanished as the Wizard God settled back into his seat. Soon, several black shadows appeared in the room, and at the head of them stood Mo Xuan, who stepped forward and knelt respectfully.

"Go," the Wizard God ordered coldly. "The grudge from that day should be avenged!"

Accompanied by the Wizard God's chilling words, Mo Xuan and the others rose, their true energy surging, and a blood-red light flashed in the room. Mo Xuan's eyes were filled with murderous intent.

"Indeed, this grudge must be repaid!" he declared.

After the Wizard God resurrected them, only Mo Xuan retained his original memories. The others had lost all recollection of their past lives, turning into walking corpses that would follow orders until their last breath.

"Go, don't disappoint me," the Wizard God murmured as he watched Mo Xuan and his group disappear into the distance, a sinister grin playing on his lips.

In that brief moment, he had felt the presence of the Great Path Qi.

Though it was only for an instant, he was certain that the power he sought was contained within Gu Lan. And he knew that he wasn't the only one after it.

The Lava Clan's Fire God, the Light God of the Light God Temple, and the Dark God of the Dark God Temple were all also interested in this energy. The reason they hadn't shown themselves yet was likely because they were waiting in the shadows, perhaps unaware of Gu Lan's true power.

Now, however, the Wizard God saw an opportunity. He would capture Gu Lan first and claim the Great Path Qi for himself, not letting anyone else get a chance at it. If he could control this power, he would be able to crush all his enemies. At that point, he would be above everyone else. Whether in the Immortal Realm or the Human World, no one would be his match.

---

In the Jing Nation Palace

Gu Lan had just landed when he impatiently asked, "Has the Wizard Clan caused any trouble here recently?"

Xue Lengyan, Zhongren, and the others shook their heads. In the days that Gu Lan had been away, the palace had remained peaceful. There were no signs of the Wizard Clan, nor had the Lava Clan made an appearance.

Gu Lan was surprised by the response. According to logic, the two clans should not have given up so easily. It was odd that they hadn't acted yet.

"Earlier, there was an anomaly in the sky. Did you run into trouble, Master Gu?" Xue Lengyan asked. She had been vigilant and had sensed the strong fluctuations in the energy just now.

Gu Lan thought for a moment and then nodded. "It was someone from the Wizard Clan."

---

Gu Lan explained the events he had encountered.

"Could it have been him?" Xue Lengyan murmured, her face growing more serious. Her expression was subtle, but Gu Lan could see through it.

"What do you mean?" Gu Lan asked.

"Master Gu, you may not know, but there are a group of beings in the Immortal Realm—gods," Xue Lengyan said softly.

"Gods?" Gu Lan was surprised, his face showing confusion.

"They are ancient beings whose strength far surpasses the current realm. It's said they spend their lives seeking the highest power, hoping to transcend the Heaven Path."

Gu Lan's face darkened as he fell into deep thought. Now that he possessed the Great Path Qi, these gods must want to seize it to transcend the Heaven Path. The Great Path Qi was the key.

"I see," Gu Lan muttered, his eyes filled with cold light. "Looks like trouble is coming."

Xue Lengyan frowned in confusion at Gu Lan's words, but Gu Lan changed the topic.

"You all need to stay vigilant," he said. "If you encounter any strong members of the Wizard Clan, do not engage in prolonged battle. With my strength, I can easily cut them down."

Just as Gu Lan finished speaking, Gu Simu interrupted, her voice filled with determination. She wasn't about to be overshadowed by these enemies any longer. Instead of waiting, she preferred to take the initiative.

"You, girl, prioritize your safety," Gu Lan said firmly. He knew well that even if he told Gu Simu to be careful, she might still act recklessly. If she was determined to fight, then so be it.

Gu Simu gave a nod, acknowledging his words, and didn't protest further.

Gu Lan glanced around at everyone before making up his mind. The Hongmeng Sword appeared in his hand, and he leaped into the clouds.

Zhongren and Ding True Man were confused by Gu Lan's actions. They wanted to follow, but Gu Lan stopped them with a firm word.

"Stay here," he instructed. "There's no need for you all to get involved. I can handle this alone."

There was another reason for Gu Lan's decision. He needed to conserve his energy, as there were still hidden enemies waiting to reveal themselves. As Xue Lengyan had pointed out, the trouble ahead would only grow.

Gu Lan infused his true energy into the Hongmeng Sword and pointed towards the sky. Sword light surged, lighting up the heavens. Prepared for whatever might come, he waited for his enemies to make their move.

What Gu Lan didn't expect was that his enemies didn't take as long as he had anticipated. As soon as the sword light shot from the sky, blood-red shadows flashed from the distance.

At first, Gu Lan didn't pay much attention due to the vast distance. But soon, he felt something wasn't right—it was Mo Xuan.

Gu Lan had personally killed him before. How could he still be alive?

Mo Xuan's face was dark and filled with an overwhelming killing intent.

"Today, I will settle the score with you!" Mo Xuan shouted, his voice filled with venom.

Gu Lan was surprised, but Hongmeng Sword flashed with intense energy.

"Unexpected. I didn't think you'd survive. You really are tough. Well, I'll end it for you this time."

Since he had killed Mo Xuan once, he wouldn't hesitate to do it again. If Mo Xuan came to him willingly, then Gu Lan had no reason to show mercy.

"Last time, you died by my sword. This time, I'll make sure you don't come back!" Mo Xuan declared.

"Kill him!" he ordered.

As soon as Mo Xuan's command was given, blood-red shadows surged from behind him. The shadows moved at lightning speed, rushing straight at Gu Lan.

Seeing the flood of blood light coming toward him, Gu Lan stepped back, gripping his sword and striking.

Gu Lan's strike was terrifyingly powerful, shaking the entire sky.
