Chapter 127: Naruto: godly career system-Chapter 127: The Sage of Six Paths' Ninja Tools
Kumogakure, the Hidden Cloud Village, lies within the Land of Lightning.
Though the village is surrounded by a humid and misty environment, the temperament of its shinobi is in stark contrast to their surroundings. Kumogakure is renowned for its expertise in taijutsu and Lightning Release ninjutsu, making it a fiercely combative village.
In terms of overall military strength, Kumogakure undoubtedly ranks first among the Five Great Shinobi Nations.
During the First Great Ninja War, the Kinkaku and Ginkaku Squad, consisting of only twenty elite ninjas, managed to assassinate the Second Raikage and his entire escort team while gravely wounding Tobirama Senju. This alone is a testament to the formidable combat prowess of Kumogakure's shinobi.
However, Kumogakure has never been as fortunate as Konohagakure. Its lack of top-tier, Kage-level powerhouses has kept it perpetually under Konoha's shadow.
The reason Kai Mitarashi had schemed to come to Kumogakure was twofold: the village harbored something he feared and something he desired.
While he chose not to dwell on the things he feared, his interest was piqued by several items:
The Golden Rope,
The Banana Palm Fan,
The Crimson Gourd,
The Seven Star Sword,
And the Amber Purifying Pot.
These five legendary ninja tools, said to have been passed down from the Sage of Six Paths, were treasures of unimaginable power.
In Kai's eyes, each of these tools possessed power comparable to that of a Kage-level shinobi.
Take the Banana Palm Fan, for example. It allows the user to unleash attacks of various chakra natures without regard for their own chakra affinity. Even someone as average as Tenten, upon accidentally acquiring the fan, managed to overwhelm Kakuzu, a shinobi at the peak of Kage-level strength.
And the Crimson Gourd and Amber Purifying Pot? Their power far exceeded that of the fan. These tools were essential in sealing the Ten-Tails—a beast of Sage-level power—making them undoubtedly super-Kage-level artifacts. They were far superior to Orochimaru's so-called "divine weapon," the Kusanagi Sword.
How could Kai not covet them?
Though Kumogakure had claimed after the First Great Ninja War that these five tools were lost following the defeat of the Kinkaku and Ginkaku Squad, Kai wasn't convinced. He doubted the village hadn't secretly searched for them. Even if they hadn't recovered all five, they likely had at least three or four of them.
Of one thing Kai was certain: the Amber Purifying Pot was definitely still in Kumogakure. Before Killer B became the perfect jinchūriki, the Eight-Tails had frequently been sealed within the pot.
Standing before the gates of Kumogakure, Yakuzuki Satsuki exhaled deeply. Finally, he was back in the village. Turning to Kai, he said curtly, "Follow me to meet the Raikage." His tone was far less polite than it had been on the journey.
Kai, unbothered by the change in attitude, shrugged and replied, "No problem."
Kai couldn't help but feel a twinge of mischief as he wondered what kind of reaction the Fourth Raikage would have upon seeing him.
As they walked through the streets of Kumogakure, Kai looked around like a tourist, his interest piqued by the village's unique scenery. In terms of natural beauty, Kumogakure undoubtedly ranked first among the Five Great Villages.
Their destination was a cylindrical building with a black dome—the Raikage's Office.
Yakuzuki Satsuki entered first, announcing loudly, "Raikage, I've returned."
"Hmm, Elder Satsuki, you're back? How did things go in Konoha—"
The Fourth Raikage, his arm wrapped in bandages, stopped mid-sentence. His eyes widened in shock as if he had seen a ghost. His voice turned harsh as he barked, "You! Kai Mitarashi! Our village has already agreed to the terms of the surrender treaty. Why are you here in Kumogakure?" His gaze burned with fury as he glared at Kai.
Kai shrugged helplessly and replied, "I didn't want to come. Your Elder Satsuki insisted on bringing me here." His expression was one of pure innocence as he glanced at Yakuzuki Satsuki.
The Raikage's anger was palpable, and Yakuzuki Satsuki, confused by the sudden outburst, explained, "Raikage, this brat killed two of our shinobi in Konoha." He threw a meaningful glance at the Raikage as he spoke.
The Raikage's expression darkened further. How could he not see through Satsuki's intentions?
Glaring at Satsuki, the Raikage then turned his attention back to Kai and growled, "Kai Mitarashi, Kumogakure does not welcome you. Leave immediately!"
A glint of cold light flashed in Kai's eyes as he replied icily, "My, what an attitude, Raikage. You summon me here, and now you want me to leave? Do you think you can command me at will?"
"You—!" The Raikage clenched his fists, suppressing the urge to attack. "What do you want?"
Kai's tone returned to its usual calm as he said, "Nothing much. I just want to take a stroll around Kumogakure."
"Fine. Go ahead and wander. I have village matters to attend to and can't accompany you," the Raikage said coldly.
If not for the fact that he couldn't defeat Kai, the Raikage would have attacked long ago.
As Kai walked out of the Raikage's Office, the Raikage turned to Yakuzuki Satsuki and snapped, "Didn't I tell you not to provoke Kai Mitarashi? And yet you brought him back to the village! Do you want to see Kumogakure destroyed?"
Satsuki, unconvinced, replied dismissively, "Destroy Kumogakure? He's just a shinobi. Can he really do that?"
"Can he?" The Raikage's breathing grew heavier as he roared, "Let me tell you something. The state I'm in right now? It's because of him! That old fool Ōnoki didn't fare much better! Kai Mitarashi wiped out over twenty thousand shinobi with a single technique! And you're asking me if he can destroy Kumogakure?"
Satsuki was stunned into silence. The Raikage had always been vague about the details of the war, and Satsuki had dismissed the rumors of Kai single-handedly defeating the Allied Shinobi Forces as exaggerations. Now, hearing the Raikage confirm it, he was left speechless.
"Tell me, now that you've brought this calamity into our village, how do you propose we deal with him?" the Raikage bellowed.
Satsuki's face turned ashen. After a long pause, he muttered, "Then we... kill him."
"Kill him? How? You go ahead and try!" the Raikage shot back angrily.
Satsuki fell silent again, but suddenly, as if recalling something, he looked at the Raikage and said, "Raikage, don't forget—our village still has that item!"
"That item?" The Raikage's eyes widened in realization. After a moment of contemplation, he murmured, "If we use that... we might really be able to kill Kai Mitarashi."
