Naruto: Kushina's Redemption, My Revenge

Chapter 118: Chapter 118: Rising Reputation

After the battle, Chinya found a wide open area to rest.

After using his left Mangekyo Sharingan's dojutsu twice, Chinya felt intense soreness in his left eye.

The ability of Wanju, the dojutsu residing within his left Mangekyo Sharingan, automatically rejects any jutsu directed at him. However, this power does have its limitations.

It cannot reject taijutsu attacks and also has a time restriction similar to Obito Uchiha's Kamui.

Wanju's duration lasts for three minutes.

Within Chinya's right Mangekyo Sharingan resided a technique called [Blind Peak].

[Blind Peak]'s ability allows for recording—specifically, it records techniques used against him. Once enough techniques are recorded, they can be released all at once.

This is somewhat similar to the Kekkei Genkai of the Mud Release, absorbing and reflecting attacks.

However, unlike that, Blind Peak cannot absorb attacks directly. It only records them—like copying someone's homework.

Still, Blind Peak could work together with Wanju in his left eye.

Wanju could reject jutsu attacks while Blind Peak recorded and then reflected them back.

Back when he fought those twenty Cloud Ninja, Chinya had not used Blind Peak.

That was because the power level of their techniques didn't meet the required threshold for release, even when recorded.

Only after reaching the record limit could the accumulated techniques be unleashed.

This was the first time Chinya had activated the Mangekyo Sharingan's dojutsu. He had to admit, the feeling of completely ignoring enemy techniques was incredibly satisfying.

The battle hadn't posed the slightest pressure on Chinya. After resting overnight, he resumed his hunt across the Land of Hot Water, targeting Cloud Ninja.

Chinya's relentless slaughter caused widespread fear among the Cloud Ninja.

Since Chinya didn't operate in a fixed location, though the chances of encountering him were slim, what if it happened?

Twenty Cloud Ninja had already fallen—including eight jonin—and if even those ninja were easily eliminated, any of their small teams sent out on missions would surely face death upon meeting him.

Unable to organize large groups for a manhunt, and too weak to confront Chinya individually, the leader of the Cloud Ninja forces stationed in the Land of Hot Water reluctantly issued an order:

All Cloud Ninja must learn the Lightning Release: Lightning Traction technique. Upon encountering Chinya, immediately use Lightning Traction to restrain him, then retreat quickly.

Similarly, the Rock Ninja stationed in the Land of Grass had previously issued orders to immediately withdraw upon spotting Chinya.

Now, the Cloud Ninja in the Land of Hot Water did the same.

As a result, Chinya's moniker "Crimson-Eyed Asura" quickly rose in fame throughout the Shinobi World.

His goal of becoming famous across the Shinobi World was nearly complete.

After all, truly renowned ninja were extremely rare.

There was the Legend of the White Fang, Sakumo Hatake; the Konoha Sannin; the Half-God Sanshouo Hanzo...and later names like Kakashi, the Copy Ninja of Konoha, and Might Guy, the Blue Beast of Konoha—the so-called "Strongest Taijutsu User."

A unique title signified recognition of one's strength.

Chinya was now just one step away from attaining legendary status across the entire Shinobi World.

That final step? Defeating an elite jonin in battle.

Minato Namikaze earned his legendary title "Yellow Flash" only after drawing even with the Lightning-fast A and Killer Bee.

Now, Chinya had become well-known only because both Stone Ninja and Cloud Ninja had received orders to retreat immediately upon encountering him.

Still, the Lightning Release: Lightning Traction technique used by the Cloud Ninja had greatly surprised Chinya.

This jutsu was clearly designed specifically to counter Thunder Breathing.

By utilizing the pulling force of lightning, it tugged at the electricity covering his body, aiming to reduce his speed.

Chinya summoned the System and opened the System Shop.

He currently had 22,000 Witness Points — sufficient to browse which abilities could enhance his strength.

Based on his own conditions, Chinya's top choice was Wood Release.

However, when he saw how many Witness Points were required to awaken Wood Release, his eyes widened in shock.

"System, I already possess the bloodline of the Senju Clan. Why does awakening Wood Release require a full 50,000 Witness Points?!"

[Wood Release Ninjutsu involves channeling chakra to generate life energy. Hashirama Senju could use it because he possessed the Sage Body. Your current chakra reserves are only twice the amount of a Kakashi in Sharingan-activated state. This amount isn't sufficient for you to awaken Wood Release.]

Chinya asked doubtfully, "Then why can Yamato... Never mind, forget I asked. He had cells from Hashirama Senju transplanted into him, allowing him to use Wood Release, albeit a weakened version. If that's the case, these 50,000 Witness Points would essentially be enabling me to obtain the Sage Body before awakening Wood Release, right?"

Chinya thought for a moment. If it meant obtaining the Sage Body first, then spending 50,000 Witness Points didn't seem unreasonable after all.

[It doesn't mean granting you the Sage Body. Awakening the Kekkei Genkai of Wood Release itself requires 20,000 Witness Points. The remaining 30,000 are dedicated exclusively to boosting your chakra reserves to the threshold required for awakening the Wood Release Kekkei Genkai.]

Chinya sucked in a breath through his teeth.

A massive 30,000 Witness Points just to reach the minimum requirement for Wood Release Kekkei Genkai.

That was absurdly high.

His eyelid twitched. So if this was the case, how expensive would the Sage Body be?

He asked cautiously, "Then how many Witness Points are needed for the Sage Body?"

[Acquiring the Sage Body requires 500,000 Witness Points.]

Chinya's head buzzed.

500,000 Witness Points? Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?

[The Sage Body originates from Asura, the second son of Otsutsuki Hagoromo, who inherited the physical traits of the Sage and awakened the Sage Body. Hashirama Senju possessed Asura's chakra, which enabled him to awaken the Sage Body as well.

Since you don't possess Asura's chakra, you fail to meet the requirements for awakening the Sage Body. Therefore, the required Witness Points must be increased fivefold, making it 500,000 points.]

Chinya's mouth twitched slightly.

Even if he did possess Asura's chakra, it would still cost 100,000 Witness Points.

The cost of acquiring the Sage Body was exorbitant.

Temporarily giving up on acquiring the Wood Release kekkei genkai, Chinya turned his attention to other abilities available in the shop.

Abilities requiring fewer Witness Points weren't impressive enough for him.

As for the impressive ones, he didn't have enough Witness Points to buy them.

Browsing the shop left Chinya increasingly frustrated.

Suddenly, an idea struck him like lightning.

Sage Body? No way he could handle that. How about Sage Mode then?

Chinya checked the shop. As Ryuchi Cave's contractor, learning their Sage Art required 20,000 Witness Points.

If he chose Sage Art from Mount Myoboku or Shikkotsu Forest instead, things got worse. Without contracts with either place, he'd need five times more Witness Points — 100,000 in total.

Sage Mode was no worse than a regular Mangekyo Sharingan (the advanced form of the Sharingan eye technique), maybe even a bit stronger.

That's because Sage Chakra could greatly boost all aspects of one's Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and Genjutsu techniques.

To Chinya, this was definitely one of the best ways to quickly increase his power.
