Chapter 143: MSOC: Chapter 143
Watching Fūma Long's complete capitulation, Kuraki and the others' faces twitched. No one dared to object. Unless they were suicidal.
"You've revealed a weakness!" Hidan's playful voice cut through the air. After the previous incident, this felt like a death sentence, tightening everyone's nerves.
Hidan appeared beside the cultist controlling the barrier, his crimson scythe slashing at the black veins.
Psh!
Blood sprayed, making everyone's eyes widen. It was identical to the Fūma young master's death. They didn't understand the ritual, but it was terrifying.
Hidan retracted his scythe, landing on the altar. He licked the blade, black markings spreading across his body, a crazed smile on his face.
"Haha, I thought you were strong. Die!"
"I'll make you tremble, and you'll all worship the god!"
Hidan roared, plunging the black spear into his chest.
"The sacrifice begins! Join the god!"
The sharp spear pierced his chest.
Psh!
Blood sprayed again. They watched Hidan kneel, blood gushing from his chest, and Kakuzu clutching his chest in apparent agony.
Konan rushed forward. "Hurry… use your strength! Why didn't you act sooner? He's your companion!"
But Kai grabbed her wrist.
"You're wrong. He's my subordinate, but I trust his abilities," Kai smiled playfully.
"Kakuzu, stop playing. It's your turn."
His words made everyone tense. Hidan, kneeling on the altar, was startled. "Are you insane?!"
"He's cursed, just like the Fūma. He'll die. Look closely…"
But Hidan's eyes widened. Kakuzu, who'd been clutching his chest, smirked, then attacked.
"I've got you!"
Black veins erupted from the ground, wrapping around Hidan like tentacles. In an instant, Hidan was completely ensnared.
The Jashin Cultists' faces paled. Hidan was their spiritual pillar. Not only was the curse ineffective, but he'd been captured.
"Damn it! I told him not to be so arrogant! That man is strange. He wasn't affected by the curse," the elder said, his face livid, slamming his cane on the ground.
"Save Hidan! Use our final resort! Kill them all!"
Following the elder's command, the Jashin Cultists attacked.
A torrent of ninjutsu rained down on Hidan. They had no concept of taking hostages. Hidan was immortal; as long as his head wasn't destroyed, even decapitation wouldn't kill him. This allowed them to attack recklessly.
The plaza erupted in a maelstrom of jutsu.
"Konan-sama, what do we do?" Kuraki panicked, glancing at Kai and Kakuzu. The Fūma young master had died from the curse, yet Kakuzu, who'd also been cursed, was unharmed. This was terrifying.
"We should help," Konan hesitated, biting her lip.
This shocked everyone. With the barrier broken and Kai and Kakuzu facing the cult, it was the perfect time to escape. But Konan's decision was unexpected.
"Are you planning to run?" Konan saw through their thoughts. "Besides Kakuzu, the youth he calls 'Boss' is far more terrifying. If we flee, we'll die. Let's fight; there might be a chance."
Kuraki and the others felt a surge of gratitude. Facing the enigmatic Kai, remaining calm was the best approach.
But their thoughts were interrupted.
"I don't like burdens," Kai said, glancing at them.
"Unfortunately, you've missed your chance to escape."
Konan was stunned. The ground rumbled, crimson curse marks appearing.
Boom!
Spiderweb-like cracks spread, crimson tentacles erupting from the ground, lashing out at the Fūma and Akatsuki members. They couldn't dodge. Fortunately, most tentacles targeted Kai and Kakuzu. Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of tentacles were a terrifying sight.
"Watch out!"
Konan shouted, using Paper Release to transform into paper and dodge. The others reacted swiftly.
Blood sprayed as tentacles pierced two Fūma members' chests, draining their blood, leaving behind desiccated corpses.
Konan paled. She could transform into paper, but her subordinates couldn't. She used Paper Shuriken to repel a tentacle, then looked down.
What she saw made her eyes widen in shock.
