NARUTO: Ninja World Scientific Revolution

Chapter 54: CHAPTER 54 - A New Idea

The scouting teams of Suna were truly unfortunate to cross paths with Hyuga Mirai and her squad.

Even before making contact, they were completely exposed by the Byakugan, their chakra reserves visible with alarming clarity. This meant that before a single move was made, nearly 30% of their intel had already been compromised.

Moreover, when Sarutobi Jū assigned the six eradication squads, he carefully considered their combat compatibility. He specifically chose Mirai's team for the first wave of clearing Suna's scouts, ensuring unmatched efficiency.

Konoha's surprise assault demanded secrecy and speed. All of Suna's operatives within the Land of Rivers had to be eliminated within a day. Otherwise, if Chiyo in Sunagakure were to catch wind of their movements, half the operation's success would already be lost.

Sarutobi Jū's team of ten executed their eradication task flawlessly. Their route ensured no enemy scouts would remain in the direction of the advancing assault troops.

Boom!

The detonation of an explosive tag marked the end for the last puppeteer among a group of four Suna shinobi. Hyuga Mirai had precisely timed her attack, securing the kill.

This time, the adversaries weren't mere scouts but a standard ambush squad of Suna ninjas lying in wait for Konoha forces. However, under the penetrating vision of the Byakugan, their ambush seemed almost laughable.

After successfully eliminating the final enemy, Mirai quickly used his Byakugan to inspect the trap-filled ninja tool pouches of two nearby Suna corpses. He disarmed the traps with practiced precision and added the pouches to his collection—an unexpected but welcome bounty.

Mirai had earlier instructed Kurenai Yuhi and Kiyo Hyuga to focus on defeating the puppeteers, ensuring she could legitimately claim the spoils for their team.

Witnessing Mirai's actions, the Genin in the other squads couldn't hide their envy. One of Sarutobi Jū's subordinates even tried to mimic her by collecting a fallen Suna ninja's tool pouch.

This reckless attempt was immediately halted by Sarutobi Jū. Without the Byakugan's ability to detect hidden traps, disarming the pouches would take precious time, which they couldn't afford to waste during an eradication mission. Furthermore, attempting such a move without Mirai's skills was almost certain to trigger deadly traps.

From Kikyo Pass to the border of the Lands of Rivers and Wind, Mirai's team encountered five squads of Suna shinobi, totaling seventeen enemies. Thanks to the Byakugan, they discovered and eliminated them all before being detected.

Upon reaching the border, Sarutobi Jū promptly relayed their success to the assault troops. Their next task was to lie in ambush near Sunagakure's outskirts. If no enemies appeared, they were to remain on standby; if they encountered any, their orders were clear—eliminate them all without exception.

As they entered the Land of Wind, Sarutobi Jū adjusted their formation, splitting Mirai and Kiyo Hyuga into separate directions. Secrecy was paramount; as long as they reached the designated location unnoticed, 80% of their mission would be complete.

Fortunately, they encountered no patrols en route. It seemed the shinobi in Sunagakure remained oblivious to Konoha's assault plans.

This was partly thanks to Orochimaru's bold strategy. Even if Chiyo was aware that Konoha had sent reinforcements to Kikyo Castle, she would never have guessed they would traverse the Land of Rivers and launch a surprise attack on Sunagakure just days later.

While Hyuga Mirai wouldn't witness the large-scale clash involving hundreds or even thousands of combatants in Sunagakure, his team's ambush preparations were meticulous.

Under Sarutobi Jū's guidance, they laid a series of interlinked traps. A single misstep by Suna would trigger a chain reaction, activating numerous traps simultaneously.

These advanced techniques weren't part of the standard curriculum at the Ninja Academy, leaving Mirai deeply impressed.

Once the traps were set, the team sought concealed spots to rest. The grueling journey, filled with skirmishes and forced marches, had pushed the Genin to their limits despite the support of ration pills.

During their break, Mirai organized their spoils. Her plan was to gather as many of Suna's puppets as possible during the war.

"Are you planning to sell all these puppets?" Kiyo Hyuga asked, frowning slightly. She couldn't help but feel puzzled—did Mirai really need that much money?

As a medical ninja, Mirai already received a considerable stipend. Even if she couldn't join every mission, Kiyo and Kurenai always ensured his share of the rewards was preserved. Despite the Hyuga clan halting Mirai's subsidies, her grandfather still provided her a personal allowance as part of her protection detail.

Though she didn't earn as much as a Jonin, her income exceeded that of most Chunin in Konoha.

"Not necessarily. I'll study them first. Maybe I can repurpose them," Mirai replied, inspecting her spoils.

With his Byakugan and exceptional memory, he quickly analyzed the internal mechanisms of the puppets, committing every detail to memory within minutes.

his recent battles with puppeteers had inspired her. He envisioned creating a biomechanical weapon.

In another world, Doctor Genus initially focused on combining biology with machinery, resulting in creations like the mechanical gorilla of the House of Evolution. While he later shifted to genetic engineering, the concept had merit.

In the Naruto world, however, resources for genetic experiments were limited. Unlike the abundance of monster cells in the other world, suitable specimens for genetic fusion were rare here.

On the other hand, the potential for biomechanical innovation in this world was vast. Unique metals, tailed beasts, and even Hashirama Cells could be incorporated.

Mirai's recent idea was to craft a biomechanical assistant using the horn of the Eight-Tails, Hashirama Cells, and advanced mechanical limbs. Such an assistant could aid her in research and even serve as a powerful ally in battle during emergencies.

The main challenge lay in programming an advanced AI. The technological level of the ninja world wasn't developed enough to create something like Doctor Genus's creations. Altering a living being might prove easier but would require finding a loyal candidate.

Perhaps I'll select a summon from Ryūchi Cave as a base and work on both fronts, Mirai mused, storing the puppets. Many of them contained chakra metal, which could be repurposed for her experiments.
