Naruto: Reborn in His Younger Self

Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Confession 2

The room was silent for a moment after Naruto's shocking revelation. Minato and Kushina were still processing the idea that their once-kindhearted student, Uchiha Obito, had orchestrated a war that would engulf the entire shinobi world.

Kushina's expression tightened with concern as she asked anxiously, "Why did Obito launch the Fourth Great Ninja War?"

Naruto took a deep breath, recalling the tragic events that had shaped Obito's descent into darkness.

"It's a long story," Naruto admitted. "It all started when Kirigakure kidnapped Rin and forcibly implanted the Three-Tails inside her. Their goal was to turn her into a living weapon—if she returned to Konoha, the tailed beast would be unleashed, devastating the village and triggering a war."

Kushina's eyes widened in horror. "That's awful! But… how did she—"

Naruto clenched his fists. "Kirigakure's Anbu pretended to 'let her escape' so that she'd eventually return to Konoha. But Kakashi rescued her before she could be forced back. Unfortunately, Rin realized their true plan—she knew that if she set foot in the village, the Three-Tails would go berserk. So…"

Naruto's voice lowered, filled with pain. "…she chose to die. She threw herself in front of Kakashi's Raikiri."

Minato's body stiffened. Kushina gasped.

"She—she let Kakashi kill her?" Kushina whispered in disbelief.

Naruto nodded. "Yeah. She did it to protect the village. But fate was cruel. Obito arrived just in time to witness the scene—he saw Kakashi's lightning blade piercing Rin's chest. He didn't know the full story. He only saw her die at the hands of his best friend."

Minato slowly closed his eyes, his expression unreadable. He had suspected that Rin's death had affected Kakashi deeply, but he had never imagined the cruel circumstances surrounding it.

"And that," Naruto continued, "was the moment Obito broke."

Kushina swallowed hard. "What do you mean… 'broke'?"

Naruto's gaze darkened. "The grief, the rage—it overwhelmed him. In that instant, he awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan. His hatred triggered Kamui for the first time, and without even realizing it, he slaughtered every single Kirigakure ninja in sight."

Minato let out a heavy sigh. "So that's how it happened…"

Naruto nodded grimly. "But it didn't end there. That entire scenario—Rin's abduction, her forced transformation, and her tragic death—was all orchestrated by someone else. It was a setup from the very beginning."

Kushina's eyes narrowed. "Who?"

"Uchiha Madara."

Minato and Kushina froze at the name.

"Madara?" Minato repeated. "But he should have been long dead by then."

Naruto shook his head. "Not exactly. The real Uchiha Madara survived his battle with the First Hokage. He faked his death, went into hiding, and spent years working in the shadows. When Obito was crushed under that boulder during the Kannabi Bridge mission, it was actually Madara who rescued him. But he didn't do it out of kindness—he saw potential in Obito and manipulated him."

Kushina clenched her fists. "That old bastard…"

Minato's expression darkened. "So… Madara wanted to use Obito as his successor?"

Naruto nodded. "That's right. But first, he had to mold Obito into someone who would abandon his ideals. He needed to strip him of his humanity. That's why he orchestrated Rin's death. He wanted Obito to despair, to hate the world, to lose faith in everything. And it worked."

Minato let out a shaky breath. "He… he truly saw Rin die, believing Kakashi betrayed him…"

"Yes," Naruto confirmed. "And in that moment, Madara welcomed him with open arms, feeding him lies about how the world was nothing but suffering. That's when he introduced Obito to his ultimate plan—the Eye of the Moon Plan."

Kushina frowned. "What is the Eye of the Moon Plan?"

Naruto hesitated. "It's complicated, Mom, but I'll put it simply. The plan revolves around using an extremely powerful Genjutsu—Infinite Tsukuyomi. Madara believed that by casting this Genjutsu on the entire world, he could force everyone into an eternal dream. A dream where there's no suffering, no war, no pain. Everyone would live in a perfect illusion."

Kushina shivered. "That's terrifying. An entire world trapped in an illusion?"

Minato, however, frowned deeply. "The real situation… it shouldn't be that simple, should it?"

Naruto smiled slightly. "As expected of you, Dad. You're right—it wasn't as 'noble' as Madara thought. The truth is, the Eye of the Moon Plan was never his idea to begin with. Someone else had planted it in his mind. Someone who had been manipulating events from the shadows for centuries."

Minato's eyes sharpened. "Who?"

Naruto's expression turned grim. "Black Zetsu."

Kushina looked confused. "Isn't Black Zetsu just Madara's will?"

Naruto shook his head. "No. That's what Madara thought. But the truth is much more sinister."

Taking a deep breath, he explained, "Black Zetsu isn't just a manifestation of Madara's will. He's the hidden third 'brother' of the Sage of Six Paths. The Sage had two sons—Indra and Asura—but there was another entity born from the Sage's own mother, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki."

Kushina's breath hitched. "Kaguya… the mother of the Sage of Six Paths?"

Naruto nodded. "That's right. Kaguya was the first person to ever wield chakra. She was a celestial being who came to Earth long ago. But she wanted absolute control over the world, so she consumed the fruit of the Divine Tree and gained god-like power. In the end, her own sons, the Sage of Six Paths and Hamura, had to fight and seal her away."

Minato rubbed his chin. "So you're saying… Black Zetsu's true goal wasn't peace. It was to revive Kaguya?"

Naruto confirmed, "Exactly. Black Zetsu manipulated history for thousands of years. He altered the Uchiha Stone Tablet to deceive Madara, tricking him into believing that the Eye of the Moon Plan was the true salvation of the shinobi world. In reality, it was all a scheme to resurrect Kaguya and return her to power."

Kushina exhaled in shock. "So even Madara was just a pawn?"

Naruto nodded. "Yes. Madara thought he was in control, but in the end, he was being used. And when the time came, Black Zetsu betrayed him—he turned against him the moment the Infinite Tsukuyomi was cast and used it to bring Kaguya back."

Minato clenched his fists. "And… what happened next?"

Naruto's expression grew solemn. "Kaguya was too powerful for any one person to fight. She had abilities far beyond any shinobi, and she sought to consume all chakra. In the end, I fought alongside Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi to seal her away again. We barely managed to win."

Kushina shook her head in disbelief. "My son… you went through all that?"

Naruto smiled bitterly. "Yeah… but it's okay now. Because I won't let it happen again. That's why I came back."

Minato and Kushina looked at him with a mix of pride and sorrow. They could see the weight Naruto carried—the struggles, the losses, the sacrifices.

And yet, he still stood strong.

Minato finally spoke. "Naruto… what do you plan to do next?"

Naruto's eyes burned with determination.

"This time… I'll change everything."
