Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Conqueror’s Haki
The BIG MOM Pirates' ship quickly cleared away the seaweed and aquatic plants blocking their path and resumed their approach to the shore. Gunfire never ceased from either side as both the Marines and Pirates continued exchanging shots.
"Prepare to land."
As the pirate ship drew closer to the coastline, Katakuri and Perospero immediately gave the order—all pirates were to prepare for landing.
They were fully aware that the Marines had set up an ambush, but retreat was never an option—they would fight their way through.
"Katakuri, did you see that? A ton of trees suddenly appeared on the shore."
Jon had grown so many trees that even a blind man could have noticed. Perospero pointed them out to Katakuri.
"It seems the Navy has a plant-manipulating ability user. The sea plants earlier were probably his doing too."
Katakuri's expression remained cold and confident.
"So what if he's an ability user? Unless a Marine Admiral shows up in person, no one can stop me."
Despite his youth, Katakuri was already extremely powerful. If there were such a thing as a "chosen one", he would certainly be among them.
At just twenty years old, he was already the second most powerful figure in the BIG MOM Pirates. Having awakened Conqueror's Haki at an early age and possessing an exceptional Observation Haki, he had never lost a fight since reaching adulthood.
This undefeated streak had cultivated an unyielding belief in his own invincibility.
In Katakuri's eyes, there might be some Marines stronger than him, but he knew the current state of the world—the Navy was locked in an all-out war with the Golden Lion Pirates.
There was no way a Marine Admiral could be deployed here.
And as long as it wasn't an Admiral, he feared no one.
At this moment, Katakuri was much like the early Straw Hat Luffy—still untouched by the cruel reality of the world, he had yet to learn what true hardship meant.
"Fire the cannons!"
The pirates had no intention of simply rushing ashore unchallenged. Once they moved in closer, they turned their ship's cannons toward the Marines and unleashed a barrage of cannonballs.
"Stay still—I've got this."
Jon spoke calmly, then raised his hand.
The massive trees he had created came to life, their branches stretching out like living tendrils.
Before the cannonballs could strike the shore, the trees intercepted them, smacking them away before they could detonate.
"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"
Explosions erupted in the air, but not a single Marine was harmed.
The surrounding Marines watched in awe, their gazes filled with admiration for Jon.
They had served under him for some time now, but due to his young age, there had always been some level of doubt about him.
However, seeing his remarkable abilities firsthand, they fully realized—this young officer wasn't just talented—he was on a completely different level.
"Looks like the Navy has some capable people."
Katakuri's eyes grew colder. Leaving behind a single comment, he shot into the sky, soaring toward the shore.
"Katakuri!"
Watching his younger brother take off alone, Perospero sighed helplessly.
Katakuri was far too arrogant. Even as his older brother, Perospero couldn't rein him in—all he could do was let him do as he pleased.
"Full speed ahead! Get onshore and slaughter every Marine!"
Perospero shouted, rallying the pirates. Fueled by bloodlust, they roared in excitement—they were no strangers to killing, and with Katakuri leading the charge, they had no reason to fear the Navy.
Katakuri's speed was astounding. The distance to shore wasn't far to begin with, and with one explosive leap, he landed at the water's edge in no time.
Before his feet even touched the ground, several tree branches lashed toward him like whips—but Katakuri didn't even flinch.
He merely twisted his body, dodging every single strike effortlessly.
"Huh?"
Watching Katakuri's approach, Jon raised an eyebrow.
This was one of the powerful auras he had sensed earlier.
He hadn't expected the enemy to charge in alone—Arrogant, isn't he?
"I'll handle this one. Jiaji, Gion—you two lead the troops and take care of the other pirates."
Jon still didn't know who this enemy was.
But if someone had the confidence to charge in alone, they were definitely one of the strongest among the enemy forces.
And against such an opponent—only the strongest should engage.
As Katakuri landed, his gaze swept across the dozens of towering trees.
Before he could make a move, a young Marine officer in a Justice coat approached him.
Katakuri saw it clearly—as this Marine walked, the trees moved aside, opening a path for him.
"So he's the one controlling the plants?"
Katakuri's eyes sharpened.
Jon also studied Katakuri, and upon seeing his distinctive appearance, he froze for a moment.
"Wait… is this guy Katakuri?"
Of all the BIG MOM Pirates, the most popular member wasn't Big Mom herself—it was her second son, Charlotte Katakuri.
In the future Four Emperors era, Katakuri would become BIG MOM's right-hand man—a top-tier powerhouse, possessing one of the most terrifying Observation Haki abilities in the entire series.
Even though he was eventually defeated by Straw Hat Luffy, anyone who saw their battle could tell—if Katakuri hadn't held back, if the plot hadn't favored Luffy, the fight would have ended very differently.
Katakuri's ability to foresee the near future was one of the rarest and most overpowered forms of Observation Haki in the entire series.
Luffy had begun to develop this ability, but he still wasn't on Katakuri's level.
Jon, however, wasn't worried.
No matter how strong Katakuri would become in the future—that was the future.
Right now, Katakuri was his age, and unless his future-seeing Haki was innate, it was uncertain whether he had even awakened it yet.
"The Kingdom of Loz is under Marine protection. If you want to attack them, you'll have to get through us first."
Jon's voice was cold and firm.
Through Observation Haki, he had already confirmed that Charlotte Linlin herself hadn't come.
That meant he didn't need to be overly cautious—he could go all in.
Katakuri's face was mostly hidden beneath his scarf, making his expression unreadable.
"Mother's orders cannot be defied. Marines, I'll give you one chance—leave, or die."
Jon sneered.
"So much for diplomacy. If that's how it is—let's fight."
"You wish to die? I'll grant your wish."
Katakuri's eyes darkened. Without another word, a tremendous surge of Conqueror's Haki exploded from his body, sweeping across the entire shoreline—
All the Marines were instantly engulfed by his overwhelming presence.
"Damn… this is bad!"
The moment Katakuri unleashed his Conqueror's Haki, Jon's expression shifted.
He could feel the immense pressure, though it had little effect on him personally.
But for the ordinary Marine soldiers—this was devastating.
Scanning the battlefield, Jon was shocked to see that, despite the intensity of the Haki, most of his soldiers were still standing.
Only a small portion had collapsed, their eyes rolling back into their heads.
The rest—though visibly shaken—had resisted Katakuri's overwhelming aura.
