Chapter 397: 355. Dream Shattered
"Yay, the Deity Incarnation is now complete."
Feeling the awakening will within the statue, Dorothy breathed a sigh of relief, as she had distinctly felt a part of her traits being copied and distributed.
This is the normal process of incarnation creation; just like how the Fairy King inherited her Dragon Witch's combative nature along with her indomitable and somewhat punch-worthy personality, this Moon Goddess Incarnation would inherit some of her traits too.
Upon closely inspecting which traits of hers had been copied, the Homebody Witch's expression brightened slightly.
"Beauty trait, wow, is my cute sister incarnation really happening?"
This first inherited trait energized Dorothy right away, instantly invigorating her.
After all, deities related to the moon, especially the goddesses, often have many legends related to beauty. If the Moon Goddesses are beauties, then it's no surprise that this Moon Goddess Incarnation would inherit her beauty. Experience more on My Virtual Library Empire
However, Dorothy felt increasingly grateful for her previous decision to equip the Moon Goddess with a Moon Rabbit mask. Otherwise, if the incarnation showed up with her face, the entire Moon Rabbit race would end up as her sycophants.
emmmm.... that doesn't seem like bad news for a deity; after all, the more they fawn, the more devout the faith, perhaps just showing her face would round up a big crowd of fanatics.
But, Dorothy is a Moon Goddess, not a Goddess of Beauty; having so many sycophant followers doesn't really help. She didn't establish the Moon Worship Cult to harvest faith or manage fisheries, but to better save this Doomsday World on the brink of destruction.
If all Moon Rabbits became sycophants, disinterested in saving the world, then the world would really be doomed.
Indeed, beauty is the death of heroes; it would only affect the Moon Rabbits' efficiency in saving the world.
"The second trait is... uh, gentleness, maternal instinct? How could I even have that?"
Dorothy made a baffled face.
She could understand being gentle, after all, she was a dedicated homebody in her past life and remains quite the homebody in this life too.
But maternal instinct...
How could she possibly have that?
However, the Homebody Witch looked down at herself and upon seeing her heavy chest armor which blocked her view and prevented her from even seeing her feet, the corners of her mouth twitched slightly.
And on further reflection, she had been the one to practically raise Alice after her father and stepmother married.
emmmm..... alright, maybe she does have some dad-like Talent, a shame that she was a loner in her past life and never discovered this potential.
"A gentle and capable incarnation that spoils people isn't bad either. In the future, can I leave the household chores to her? Yeah, a good incarnation should take good care of her original body. Come on, Little Five, let me see what you can do. If you can't spoil me rotten, then your gentleness and maternal instinct aren't up to scratch."
Dorothy reluctantly accepted this reality and was blissfully imagining having an older sister-like incarnation to take care of her.
"This maternal trait is probably derived from the Mother Goddess image in the Moon Rabbit legends."
The Homebody Witch guessed as much in her mind.
Sin the the Moon Rabbit legend, the Moon Rabbits were created by the Moon Goddess. So now, as Dorothy logs in with the Moon Goddess avatar, she naturally inherits this legendary trait.
It just feels weird for her, a lifelong loner, to suddenly be endowed with maternal traits.
"I hope there are no more weird traits coming up."
Dorothy hoped so in her heart and continued reading. But the more she read, the stranger her expression became.
"Ah, what's all this, decisive, cruel? Weren't we just gentle? How did it turn cruel all of a sudden?"
She couldn't quite imagine what someone who was gentle yet cruel, and cruel yet gentle, looked like.
"Leadership? Military Strategy? No, shouldn't you, as the Moon God, just be responsible for looking pretty? What do you need leadership and military strategy for? You are the Moon God, not the God of War. Plus, I really don't want to become an Armed Witch."
"Librarian, that's somewhat normal... normal my ass, there aren't many normal people in these big shot positions, and I was only a librarian back in elementary school for crying out loud. Where on earth did you find this broken trait?"
"Heart of Steel, sheesh... I had no idea I even possessed this trait."
....
"Next up is the last trait, uh, earth, what the heck?"
"Who are you calling dull? You're the dull one! That's called low-key, that's called easy-going, that's called moderation. It's also how to blend in with the masses, you know."
"And earthy earthy, how are you supposed to build anything without being earthy?"
After reviewing the last trait, Dorothy closed her eyes, her expression becoming peaceful.
With all these bizarre traits combined, she could no longer imagine what kind of personality Little Five would end up having.
Well, a lady she could never be, because who ever heard of a lady whose personality, beyond the initial gentleness and maternal cover, was entirely comprised of armed traits?
This wasn't just any ordinary armament; this configuration was outright a War God.
Alas, I was so naive, really. I should have realized sooner that although these Moon Rabbits appear obedient and docile, they are ultimately a race bred for fervent warfare. Allowing their faith to shape Little Five's personality, there was no way she could end up a lady.
Homebody Witch is having a breakdown...
Meanwhile, on the other side, Little Five inside the Moon Goddess Statue had fully awakened. Having inherited the memories and wisdom of her original form, and being born as a deity, she was just born but already knew everything.
"It's time to bestow blessings," she thought.
Newborn Moon Goddess had this thought.
Beneath believers praying to deities, deities naturally need to nurture believers and repay them with blessings.
The essence of the way of faith is still an exchange of equivalents; otherwise, faith that is only taken and never given won't last long.
The Moon Goddess was very aware that the main purpose of molding her incarnation was precisely for this step of bestowing blessings.
The best blessing deities can provide to believers are the so-called Divine Arts.
And what are called Divine Arts, simply put, are just deities sharing their knowledge and skills with believers, something that every deity naturally possesses.
However, bestowing Divine Arts on believers requires using the Power of Faith, and believers also consume the Power of Faith when using Divine Arts, so the majority of deities set limits on how many times their followers can use Divine Arts—in other words, how many times ordinary believers and zealots can use them daily.
In general, the more devout the believer and the higher their position within the Church, the more types and number of Divine Arts they can use.
Essentially, this is quite similar to the Spell Slot system of the Judgment Court, and more accurately, the nearby Spell Slot mechanism is actually modeled after the Divine Art System.
Since the original form already possessed the knowledge of Spell Slots, the Moon Goddess, although bestowing blessings for the first time, was surprisingly skilled.
Thus, the Moon Goddess Statue carved from jade began to emit a faint glow, and as this light dispersed into thousands of strands, it fell among a crowd of Moon Rabbits in the square in front of her.
And when the light landed on a Moon Rabbit, it immediately vanished, and a mysterious whisper emerged in their minds, imparting to them the skills of salvation.
...Moon Goddess bestowing blessings...
