Chapter 35: Fierce Battle!

Genichi had not expected that he would encounter a ninja with an Ice Release kekkei genkai.

He realized he had to go all out. A ninja with a bloodline limit was never going to be simple.

And... the person before him was excellent experimental material!

Zai -> Snake -> Tiger!

After the three seals, a water dragon shot up from the river and then plunged towards the man in blue.

"This brat..."

The man in blue's expression changed again. The previous Water Shockwave was one thing, a C-rank ninjutsu, but for him to use the Water Dragon Bullet Technique so quickly... He was even faster than him!

"A brat who truly cannot be underestimated!"

The man in blue completely shed his earlier relaxed attitude. He crouched down and pressed both hands onto the surface of the water.

A current of water surged upwards, forming a water curtain that then transformed into a wall of ice.

The water dragon slammed into the ice wall and immediately collapsed and scattered. The next moment, a shuriken stuck into the ice wall, the explosive tag attached to it ignited, and it detonated with a boom.

The man in blue leaped backward, an ice blade forming in his right hand. With a clang, he blocked the incoming sword strike.

The two of them landed on the surface of the river at the same time.

The man in blue parried Genichi's short sword with his one-handed ice blade, while his left hand formed a one-handed seal.

Genichi's pupils contracted. He immediately retracted his sword and leaped backward. From the river's surface, countless water needles shot up with a whistling sound. Genichi swung his sword, intercepting all of them.

But just as his figure landed, four currents of water slammed into him from all sides. The man in blue had predicted his landing spot.

Genichi took the hit squarely. His body, with a poof, turned into a mass of water and fell back into the river.

"What? A water clone!" The man in blue's pupils shrank. He had sensory abilities and was certain that Genichi had no ambush set up before the battle. This meant he had used a water clone when he cast his very first jutsu.

Cunning brat! the man in blue cursed internally. He immediately spun around and crossed his arms.

The real Genichi's killing strike arrived. The flash of his blade was like a bolt of white silk, slashing upwards from the lower left. The blade's edge cut into the man's crossed arms, sending countless ice shards flying.

He formed a layer of ice armor on his body... just like Gaara's Armor of Sand, Genichi thought in shock. After the drawing cut, he immediately followed up with a flying kick, sending the man in blue tumbling across the surface of the river.

Sheathing his sword, Genichi formed seals with both hands.

Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet Technique!

This time, the water dragon was even larger. The man in blue had only just stabilized himself when the water dragon descended from the sky.

Rumble!

The water surged in all directions, splashing everywhere. The Water Dragon Bullet had hit its mark precisely, but Genichi frowned slightly. The water receded, revealing a hemispherical dome of ice that had protected the man in blue.

Crack~~

The ice dome, covered in cracks, collapsed. The man in blue stood up, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. "I was too careless!"

"But I won't be again." The man in blue raised his right arm and formed a one-handed seal. His left arm, although not sliced open thanks to the ice armor, had been fractured by the immense force of Genichi's attack. It was temporarily immobile and could not form seals. The blood at his mouth was from Genichi's kick.

Seeing the enemy form a one-handed seal again, Genichi immediately formed the Tiger seal. "Genjutsu: Bringer-of-Darkness Technique!"

The man in blue's vision was instantly stolen. "This is... genjutsu!"

"Damn brat!" The man in blue nearly bit his own tongue. He immediately changed his hand seal, then opened his mouth and spat out a cloud of mist that quickly spread. After using the Hidden Mist Technique, he immediately leaped up, leaving his original spot.

But even with his quick reaction, he was still grazed by one of Genichi's shuriken, leaving a bloody gash on his left arm. Although he could form ice armor to cover his body, he ultimately couldn't maintain a permanent layer of armor on his skin like Gaara could. So, both Genichi's kick earlier and the shuriken now had injured him. Fortunately, his reaction was fast enough to use the Hidden Mist Technique to obscure his opponent's vision.

After catching his breath, the man in blue used his Ice Release to seal the wound on his left arm, then began to use one-handed seals to try and break the genjutsu.

On the other side, within the mist, Genichi was also feeling helpless. A guy with a kekkei genkai is really tough. Forget the Ice Release, just his ability to use one-handed seals and his quick reactions made him stronger than any opponent he had faced before.

The river water surged up, circling around the clone. It even sealed off the area above his head. The entire Water Formation Wall was like an inverted, rotating bell.

This made the man in blue, who had just started to smile, freeze. "How is this bastard's Water Release better than mine?!"

"He's a Konoha guy, damn it..." The man in blue gritted his teeth. "I don't believe your chakra can sustain this!"

Swish! Swish! Swish!

A dense barrage of ice senbon shot towards Genichi's clone from different directions, but they were all blocked by the rotating Water Formation Wall. The two of them were now locked in a battle of attrition.

A moment later, the floating ice mirrors suddenly began to crack, and then they all shattered, falling into the river with a crash. The man in blue also fell from the air, slamming onto the surface of the river with a thud.

"What... what's happening?" the man in blue struggled to lift his head.

Genichi's clone dispelled the Water Formation Wall, raised its hand, and threw a shuriken that pierced the man's shoulder. He smiled faintly. "Sorry, but I'm also a medical ninja!"

The man in blue's eyes widened as he suddenly understood. "Your shuriken... it was poisoned!"

Genichi's gaze fell on the frozen wound on the man's arm. If he hadn't frozen it, the poison would have likely taken effect even faster. But still, the potent poison Tsunade had developed was very effective. If he hadn't coated his shuriken with it, there was no way he could have taken down the man before him today.

"How ridiculous... that I would die at the hands of a little brat..." The man in blue's head slowly drooped, and he could no longer stay conscious.

Only then did Genichi approach. He took a syringe of anesthetic from his tool pouch and injected it into the man, then took out an antidote pill and fed it to him.

This guy couldn't die yet!
