Chapter 31: Evolution and a silent oath of loyalty.
"System, I would like to start the evolution. Option 5 if you would, please."
[Negative Host. For this evolution to start, you will have to either, envelope yourself with shadows, something that is not yet possible with your Shadow Sovereign skill, or in water. Theoraticly you could also use the air, but you will not be able to keep yourself flying during the evolution.]
"But wouldn't that rule out shadows as well?"
[No host, since you do have the skill: Layer Travel, which, if you go deep enough, will cease to have light. The Forgotten Depths, the one in your Home-Dimension, will easyly qualify for the water criteria.]
"Okay, so I will dive into the lake and evolve there. Anything else I should know?"
[Yes Host. The evolution will take atleast three days, during that time however, Halloween will have passed, which isn't important since it will happen even without you, your third Gacha might also happen, but will be held of until you are awake again.
Since the evolution will bring dramatic changes in quality of your body, bloodline and more, host is also advised to start grinding everything he has once he is awake.]
"What about the mission? Is there any deadline attached to it?"
[While there is no deadline, host is advised to complete the last two before New Years. Preferably before or by the end of November.]
"That sounds doable."
I teleported into the Home Dimension and slowly walked towards the lake. Before entering however, I activated my skill: Shadow Puppet. It had instructions to continue helping everyone recover and start training every demigod and child I had rescued. The demons, if they wanted, were also allowed to train.
Which reminded me of something. Most of them, even if they had yet to start trusting strangers, which wasn't as bad as it could have been as they had, to my and their luck, not been held captive as long as I had suspected. At least they trusted me now, after all, seeing that their savoir was a literal child in their eyes earned me some of their trust.
Several of the rescued animals had also taken to them.
I dove into the waters. The fish, which were curious why I was back already, moved out of my way.
"Would you like someone to Escort you to your destination?" asked the Hellfin representative.
I stopped for a minute.
"No we do not. But if you wish to give us one we would gladly accept."
"We shall be called Teeth henceforth. So, would you like to be escorted?"
"We will see to it. Several Deep Scales have asked to be put on rotation. They will be happy to know that their services are needed earlier than they expected."
"If you would please follow me."
It took a few minutes of diving straight down, to reached the garden. The bed I had woke up on was still there, but now some rather wonderful flowers had grow on its sides and they gave of a violet glow, which mixed beautifully with the silvery-blue glow from the crystals around.
I lay down on the bed and asked the system to start the evolution.
[Starting fusion. Host will be asleep during it. Have a good night, host. See you when you are awake.]
And with that as a last message, the world around me started to blur and dim. Soon I fell asleep.
POV: 3rd Persective
As Percy Jackson lay there, still and unmoving on the flowerbed with glowing crystals and flowers around him, large and dark crocodiles appeared from the darkness around.
They had scales of dark, almost black green and big fangs. Their bodies were of incredible size, just like all of the fish and reptiles inside of the lake, as the presence of Percy had been more than enough to allow them to not only stop eating others, but also to start growing into their more primal forms. Beasts that only forgotten myths and barely decipherable tales mentioned.
Old and forgotten beasts of the likes that even Tartarus, the primordial of the Abyss, has never seen.
The water around Percy, being guarded by these very beasts, glowed as slowly his form unraveled.
It was like the flickering of a Diashow. Like his body couldn't decide what he truly was.
One second he was a human, with tribal marks on his chest, throat, shoulders and back, going down his hips and faintly ending above his knees.
The next there was a giant snake, switching between a full human form, devoid of markings, to a form with snake hair. The snakes scales were metallic with a violet-black gleam to them.
And it continued from there.
A big, almost 4 Meters tall person with deep black hair, fallen leafs inside, fire for eyes and horns like a deers. Little trinkets hanging from the antlers.
The there was the form of the Rivers Child. The three heads had grown an air of maliciousness around, the fur, previously a black void, now showed grey color in the shape of more tribal markings. Some of which on the arms and legs.
The there was a giant ass spider. It's für had grown a silvery gleam to it, a small crown of horns on its head and it's limbs had grown longer and sleeker.
It changes again, suddenly there is a giant, humanoid owl, with black feathers, chains bound around it's arms and a grimoire on its hip. There was some black goo dripping from it's beak.
Again, this time there was a big, bipedal Jackal, it shared close resemblance with Anubis, but it's für was black as the void, there was a blue glow on what appeared to be tattoos on its body and mist, black with a hint of azur blue lapped on its ankles.
Suddenly there was an elve.He was tall, had a lean build and strong arms and legs. Small, almost unnoticeable flames curled around the elves hands and if you were to listen closely, a him of music seemed to emit from it's lips.
Things got absurder from here.
The changes and switches between the appearances became faster and more erratic. Small, new and unaccounted forms snuck in.
A half horizontal rotted face with little bits of dried skin hanging onto the Jaws holding sharp and long teeth.
A being with a several metal plates covering the face.
A Goats head with more horns and eyes than possible.
Red glowing eyes with small strings of white glowing behind the head like hair.
White glowing eyes with a body hidden in shadow.
A skeleton with an everchanging skull.
More and more little changes snuck in and at some point, no one being able to tell when it had passed, it became to fast to even observe.
And all this time, throughout all of this, the eyes of the Deep Scales, the crocodiles not even Tartarus knew about, stared, observed and guarded.
They knew not to tell anyone not of the depths. Why? Why should they tell those above.
Those that angered, hurt or endangered this one, this demon, elve, human or whatever he turned out to be, would not deserve to be warned of what they awoke.
They would not deserve to know just how many of the creatures of the Forgotten Depths would be after them.
They knew one thing. And one thing only.
This child, the one that had rescued all of them, would never be unguarded if they could help it.
This Wicker, this being, had the loyalty of every being of this lake.
