Pokemon: I'm a Farmer

Chapter 263: Chapter 263: Compensation

"I'm really sorry, I just wanted to capture the Swellow!"

Beach said with a bitter smile.

In fact, Beach could understand Rex's feelings better than anyone else. After all, his initial Pokémon was a Bagon, a rare dragon-type Pokémon that most trainers could only dream of obtaining.

There had been instances before where wild Bagon were injured by people trying to forcibly capture them, and at that time, Beach's anger was no less than what Rex was feeling now, maybe even more.

Thinking about this, Beach quickly recalled his Salamence and Noivern into their Poké Balls and raised his hands, indicating he did not wish to resist any further.

His actions slightly eased Rex's anger. However, Rex still walked up to Beach, removed his Poké Balls, and locked them one by one.

Rex didn't want to give Beach any chance to turn the situation around. Though the chances were slim, he needed to eliminate every possibility.

After doing all of this, Rex noticed that there were many fainted Taillow scattered around, clearly defeated in the recent battle. He looked at the Skiploom flock that had followed him.

Understanding his intentions, the Skiploom used their green energy to envelop the area, slowly healing all the injured Pokémon, including Swellow.

However, Swellow seemed to think the healing was too slow, so it landed on the ground and used its Roost ability.

With the dual healing, Swellow's body quickly recovered, though it was still mentally exhausted from the battle.

Seeing this, Beach was secretly amazed. A well-trained Swellow army, a flock of Skiploom that could use Grassy Terrain, and many powerful Pokémon around—this small farm held so many surprises for him.

Although Beach had temporarily lost his Pokémon, he felt relieved because he knew that a trainer who had the loyalty of so many Pokémon was unlikely to be narrow-minded.

Once all the Taillow were healed, Rex dismissed the gathered Pokémon.

Then, he took Beach toward the breeding house. At this point, there appeared to be no Pokémon following Rex.

This was Rex's way of testing Beach. If Beach tried to attack him when he saw an opportunity...

Rex would show him just how dangerous the world could be. After all, the body-strengthening techniques and his All Star Fitness Body Training Technique he had been practicing recently were not for nothing.

Fortunately, Beach had no ill intentions and even began chatting with Rex.

This allowed Rex to learn more about Beach's background, discovering that he came from a prominent family in the Kalos region and had recently started his journey in Hoenn.

As for whether Beach was telling the truth or not, Rex planned to ask Officer Jenny to verify the information. If there was anything off, he would hand Beach over to her immediately.

Any trainer looking to challenge the league must register with the Pokémon League, and Officer Jenny, being a police officer, had the authority to access this information.

After bringing Beach to the first floor of the breeding house, Rex told him to sit anywhere and then went upstairs alone.

Rex wasn't worried about Beach trying to escape since he still had Beach's Poké Balls. If Beach managed to escape, Rex would accept it.

"Officer Jenny, I need your help verifying some information about someone."

Rex called Officer Jenny and explained the situation with Beach.

Officer Jenny, eager for a potential case after a long break, quickly agreed to help. If Beach's information turned out to be false, she would head to Rex's farm to arrest him for questioning.

Thanks to Officer Jenny's impressive efficiency, she quickly gathered all the information about Beach.

To her disappointment, most of what Beach said checked out. Nevertheless, she sent the information to Rex.

Upon receiving the data from Officer Jenny, Rex carefully reviewed it and confirmed that Beach hadn't hidden his identity.

Now, Rex found himself in a bit of a dilemma. After all, Beach had mistaken Swellow for a wild Pokémon and tried to capture it, which was a common occurrence for any trainer in the wild. He couldn't be too harsh.

The only thing that had angered Rex was that Beach had injured Swellow. But since Swellow had already exacted its revenge by leading its flock in the battle, Rex decided not to pursue the matter further.

"Alright, you can leave. Just make sure to check the situation before trying to capture a Pokémon in the future."

With that, Rex walked downstairs, returned Beach's Poké Balls, and said coldly.

"Thank you for your understanding. I'll be more cautious next time!"

Beach said gratefully as he received his Poké Balls, clearly relieved.

Beach had thought that he wouldn't be let off so easily and might even have to pay compensation. He didn't expect the young trainer before him to let him go so easily.

Feeling a bit guilty, Beach took out a bird-beak-shaped item from his bag and handed it to Rex, saying, "This is a Sharp Beak, a Pokémon tool I came across. I'd like to give it to your Swellow as an apology for my recklessness."

Rex was surprised by Beach's generosity. A Pokémon tool being used as compensation was quite a gesture.

"If you're sure about this, I'll accept it on behalf of Swellow."

Rex didn't immediately accept the Sharp Beak, but confirmed with Beach first.

"Please, take it!"

Since Beach had already offered the Sharp Beak, he wasn't going to take it back. To him, a Pokémon tool wasn't that significant.

Seeing Beach's firm attitude, Rex accepted the Sharp Beak without further hesitation.

According to legend, Sharp Beaks are formed from the beaks of powerful bird Pokémon after they die, evolving over time in a special environment. The tool boosts the power of flying-type moves.

"Well, I'll take my leave now!"

Beach, seeing that Rex had accepted the Sharp Beak, felt that their conflict was resolved. He relaxed a bit, thinking they might even become friends if they met again.

Rex watched Beach leave quietly without saying a word to stop him. His resentment toward Beach had gradually dissipated.

Meanwhile, Beach, after leaving the farm, quickly released his lightly injured Noivern to fly him to Fallarbor Town. He needed to get to the Pokémon Center and have Nurse Joy treat his Salamence and Noivern as soon as possible.

This encounter wiped away Beach's arrogance from his recent victories. In his mind, he couldn't help but replay the scene of being attacked by the Swellow flock and the image of the younger Rex. (End of Chapter)
