Chapter 76: Ch-76
"This choice of the three Pokémon brings back memories," Professor Kukui said.
When choosing the three Pokémon of the Alola Region, after much thought, Professor Kukui chose Litten, the future No. 1 Pokémon of the universe: Incineroar!
"Me too! I chose Charmander!"
Earl Dervish, known as the Dodo Pokémon trainer, has a Charmander instead of Dratini.
Let's continue watching the content on the screen.
In the video:
[Delia, Ash's mother, tells Ash that it's time to rest, but Ash refuses because he's excited about receiving his first Pokémon from Professor Oak the next day.]
[Unfortunately, during the night, Ash dreams of catching Pokémon and accidentally throws his alarm clock as if it were a Poké Ball.]
[Due to the damaged alarm clock, Ash wakes up late the next morning.]
Seeing this, the champion trainers exchanged amused looks and began retreating tactically.
"Would you... really be so reckless?" Wallace asked.
"Rookie trainers are always excited the day before their journey begins," Cynthia said, defending Ash. "As for Ash... we can understand."
Even Cynthia, the Sinnoh Region Champion, related to Ash's excitement. She reminisced about the time her family gifted her Gible Pokémon eggs. The moment she received the eggs, she was so excited she couldn't sleep all night, eagerly waiting for the Land Shark Pokémon to hatch.
"It was the most unforgettable moment of my life!" Cynthia admitted.
Many believed Cynthia's happiest moment was winning the Sinnoh Region Championship, but she revealed it was actually meeting Gible. She imagined Ash felt the same way the moment he became Alola's Champion Trainer.
Kanto Region, Cinnabar Island
Watching Ash miss the opportunity to choose one of the Big Three starters, Misty sighed and said:
"At this moment, you're still so reckless. This is just so... you, Ash."
"Misty, stop saying so much!" Ash protested defensively.
The scene seemed to expose Ash's "dark history," much to his embarrassment.
Still, Ash had no regrets. That fateful moment of being late led him to meet the most important being in his life—a partner and family member no one, Pokémon or otherwise, could ever replace.
Palace Gate Stadium
The video continued:
[After realizing he was late, Ash didn't even change out of his pajamas and ran straight to Professor Oak's laboratory. He was ridiculed by his rival Gary upon arrival but began pleading with Professor Oak for a Pokémon to accompany him on his journey.]
Professor Oak smiled, amused, as he confirmed that Ash was, indeed, late, as expected.
[As Ash entered the laboratory, he eagerly exclaimed, "I've made up my mind. Squirtle, you'll be my first Pokémon!"]
"Squirtle has already been chosen by someone else," Professor Oak informed him.
Ash quickly adjusted, saying, "Then it's Bulbasaur!"
"That one's been taken too," Oak replied, shaking his head.
"Fine, Charmander is my choice!"
Oak smiled helplessly. "Charmander has also been taken."
In the audience at the Palace Gate Stadium, discussions broke out:
"Ash is so pitiful! Missing all three starters just because he was late."
"How can he travel without a starter Pokémon?"
"The Kanto starters are amazing! Missing one of them could mean regret for life!"
The audience couldn't help but find the situation ironic: this 10-year-old, who would one day defeat legendary Pokémon like Articuno and Regice and become Alola's Champion, started his journey in such a chaotic way.
The video continued:
Kanto Region, Pallet Town
[Desperate, Ash begged Professor Oak for any Pokémon, even a Caterpie.]
Professor Oak reassured him. "There's one Pokémon left, but it has... a little problem."
Ash, desperate, replied, "It doesn't matter! I'll take anything!"
At that moment, Pikachu appeared on the second floor, playing and chasing something.
"That's your Pokémon," Professor Oak said calmly.
[Seeing Pikachu, Ash immediately brightened up and exclaimed, "This is great! That's my Pokémon!"]
The bond between Ash and Pikachu began at that moment.
In the Champion Guest Seats, Cynthia said softly, "The encounter of life is never accidental."
Steven Stone, smiling, added, "What you said makes sense, Cynthia. My meeting with Charmander and Dragonite was no accident either."
Cynthia continued, "If Pikachu hadn't left Kangaskhan and wandered into the wild, or if Ash hadn't been late, they wouldn't have met. Their meeting was fate."
Kanto Region, outside Pallet Town
[Despite their initial rocky relationship, Ash stood up to protect Pikachu when a Spearow flock attacked them. His bravery touched Pikachu, who mustered its strength to unleash a Thunder Shock, defeating the entire Spearow flock.]
The audience applauded the heroic moment.
The video shifted, revealing a rainbow in the sky. A golden Pokémon flew past.
The screen displayed a question:
