Ash, for the first time, experienced humility after witnessing such a devastating battle. Sacrificing thousands of mortal soldiers just to kill an Immortal Beast was above what he could comprehend. He was, but still a human inside after all.

If he hadn't listened to Autumn Wolf Stag's last words, he might get killed as collateral during the battle.

He wondered, 'is this what the tree wanted to show me? To teach me humiliation by showing me how wicked and depraved this world is?'

Ash didn't think too much about the grim reality of the new world he currently lived in before this event. He thought everything would be just fine as long as he could get stronger and evolve his physic.

But, that's not the only case. In this world, heaven defying beings ruled the weak. Even the Demon King in his previous world was just a problematic kid with a cute narcissistic behaviour compared to those cultivators who could easily devour an entire nation on a whim.

He felt embarrassed by the fact that he was so ignorant about the cruelty of the world since he was always being doted on and protected by the kindness of others.

"Uncle Tienxing, Lady Huxian, Shanguang. I am sorry… I let another Immortal Beast die in front of me!"

But now, he fully understands how vicious and merciless cultivators are. They might look like humans, but they're a completely different breed compared to the latter. Beyond evil! All they cared about is power and longevity, anything else mattered less.

In spite of the fear that overwhelmed his instincts, Ash fled the battlefield behind as fast as he could. There's no way he could win against an army of that scale plus a Nascent Soul Cultivator as the mastermind behind their formation. He would be dead in a second!

After a while, Ash finally regained his composure, he could finally think straight after circulating his inner qi. Thus, he opted to take a long detour to deceive any tracker that might follow him from the ground.

Days later, he returned to the forest, and was welcomed by the not-so-small Lightning Liger. Ash was astonished by Shanguang's fast growth. Just being left alone for a while, Shanguang had grown quite substantially since the last he saw her.

"Where have you been, Master!?"

"Erm, sorry. I was lost in the forest during the hunt. It took me a while to find the way out."

Shanguang looked at him scrutinizingly. "Well, I was worried something might happen to you. But, you returned safely, that's the most important."

"Sorry to keep you waiting. Have you trained the technique that you learnt?"

"Of course, Master!" Shanguang did a cute little jump. "Also, also! I can now see Qi Energy in the air, and perceive the flower's true shape!"

"Oh really? Do you still have the flower with you?"

The young ligress lowered her head dejectedly. "Unfortunately, the flower withered as soon as I perceived its true shape. And then a huge amount of Yang Qi surged inside me. I couldn't do anything but meditate for three days straight, and then, my whole body was in pain. But, when the pain subsided, I could feel my body grow taller and stronger!"

Ash smiled inwardly. "That's supposed to happen with the flower. You did well, Xiao Shan. That explains why you grew taller and stronger now. As expected from my disciple."

Although she was being praised, Shanguang didn't let it grow too big in her head. "Though, I feel bad for the flower once it withers away. So, I replanted it just below our tree."

 "Come, come, I also learnt how to make fire just like you've told me! And look there, I've grilled so much meat!"

Ash was excited at first, he didn't expect that Shanguang could make a fire just from a little direction that he gave to her several days ago. 

However, his excitement soon crumbled into pieces upon seeing the pile of charred meat atop the fireplace. Ash glanced at her, as if asking her; 'what have you done?'

"From what animal did you get these heaps of meat?"

"Thanks to the new profound power, I fend off a Three Horned Bull that tried to eat the withered flower and turned him into my dinner instead. Errr, it might look like it has been burnt, but the inside is so juicy, I promise!" Shanguang smiled awkwardly.

Seeing her innocence, Ash inquired further just to be safe.

"Did that bull come alone? Was there any herd of Three Horned Cattles nearby?"

"Fortunately, no. The bull trespassed the perimeter, wounded. Its middle horn was broken. It must have lost a fight against the Alpha Bull."

"Sigh, whatever. Let's eat. I am famished."

"En!"

After eating, Ash checked her status window. He was more surprised when Shanguang's level had gone up to Level 4. He didn't particularly pay attention to her attribute points. However, her ultimate skill has evolved. From [10.000 Volts] it changed to [20.000 Volts].

'I might get passed by my own Tamed Beast at this rate. I have to strengthen myself, and Level Up!"

Noticing the bluish transparent screen before him, Shanguang scoot closer, peeking curiously.

"Master, I have always been wondering. Where did you come from, and how did you have this… Blessing."

Ash pondered for a while.

'Should I tell her that I am actually a human who got reincarnated as a phoenix?'

'Nah, she won't believe me. Not until her cognitive function is fully developed.'

"I came from the Western Region. The land where Heaven Defying Cultivators dwells and devours the very essence of this realm."

"Ooohhh!" Shanguang's eyes widened, full of sparkles. "Did you learn how to give a blessing from them?"

"Nope." Ash was having a headache. This hyperactive Ligress was quite a handful from time to time. "More importantly, did you remember which direction the bull came from?"

Shanguang rolled her eyes upward, recalling the event. "From the south!"

"I see. Southward it is then."

"Eh? Are we going already?"

"Yes." Ash walked lightly after swallowing his last piece of meat.

Shanguang then followed behind him. "May I ask why?"

"Before I answer your question. Let me ask you this; what is the most fundamental rule in the wilderness?"

"The strong prey the weak!" She then had an idea of what he tried to imply. "Are we going to hunt those cattles?"

It was not a wrong answer yet nor the correct one. As had another idea how to get stronger and conquer the Eastern Region. From what he saw at the walled city in the east, Ash learnt how to get sustainable resources to feed his need for EXP points.

"Inaccurate. The correct answer is; the strong, shepherd their herd. We are going to turn them into our food farm."
