Chapter 18: 018: A Wounded Earth Drake
RAAP 18 - A Wounded Drake.
After a successful domestication of the Three Horned Cattles, Ash and the young Ligress gathered around 5.000 cattles with the odds of 1 to 5 for the bulls and cows. If he were adding the calves who's still suckling on their mothers, it would be at least 8.000 totals.
With this number, Ash didn't need to worry about food for the time being and the daily intake of EXP Points was secured, he could say goodbye to hunting the weak Immortal Beasts so he could focus on hunting high rank Immortal Beasts for greater EXP yields. For every cattle that he culled, he would gain roughly a whopping 4.000 to 6.000 EXP in total!
But of course, Ash was not a glutton who would devour the entire herd in one night. On top of that, he needs to eliminate any competition with other predator type Immortal Beast.
Just when he thought about patrolling the area for a potential enemy, Shanguang already knew the assignment beforehand.
"I will check the outskirts!" She had already darted away when Ash was about to save her. He had no choice but to waylaid her in a single flap of his wings.
"Wo-wo-woaahh! Move away, Master!"
Shanguang skidded over the grass for a few dozen meters until she stumbled and slammed her face against the soil, grunting in pain.
"Why would you do that?!"
"I don't want you to roam around aimlessly. Like it or not, you will be on watch duty until around midnight."
"Nooo…"
"Yes. And it's final. You're dismissed."
Though she looked very dejected by Ash' order as his Master, the young Ligress abided by his words in the end.
Shanguang rolled her eyes up. "Urghh, fine…"
He could overlook her rebellious phase since she's still too young. But, if it's too much, he would conduct disciplinary procedures to contain her outburst.
Ash turned back before he took off. "Also, do not make any fire. The light will obstruct Cattles' night vision instead. And it might cause a wildfire. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Master!" She straightened her back immediately.
"I will be back before midnight. There will be a treat if you behave and be a good girl."
"Hmph!" Shanguang trotted toward the herd. Although she looked very discontent, her wagging tail showed otherwise. She was looking forward to it.

Flying above the area, Ash noticed there was something unusual about the
mountain range that loomed over the meadow in the southwest direction. He went there to check it out.
By the time he arrived at one of its rocky peaks, an eerie silence chilled his back. There's no sign of life, even the Qi Energy felt unstable on his feather. Before long, he found himself standing on a huge footprint, two times larger than him. An Immortal Beast!
"No wonder this mountain range is so quiet."
Curious, Ash followed the footprints. After a while, the trail stopped in front of a cave's entrance on the other side of the mountain. He looked upward, amazed by the sheer size of the opening.
Only God knows what kind of monstrosity that dwelled inside. However, he couldn't stop his inner thoughts and went inside. Upon venturing deeper into the cave, the once dark passage was lit by thousands of glowing gems, littered every inch of the wall.
Low growls soon echoed from deep within. Notwithstanding the fierce killing intent, Ash pressed onward. Soon enough, the silhouette of a drake came to view. The growls intensified on each step.
Ash couldn't believe his eyes when his sight landed onto the drake. It was well over 15 feet tall, and it tucked her legs beneath her belly. If the drake stood on all four, it would easily scrape the ceiling with its spiny back.
Upon a closer look, Ash spotted a nasty wound on her hind leg. If he would presume what had caused such a big open wound that even penetrated the thick scale, Ash guessed that it was inflicted by multiple sword slashes.
At the same time, the Heavenly Beast Taming System displayed the drake's detailed information.

Ash shuddered upon reading the details. He didn't expect that he would stumble on a Sky Rank Immortal Beast in this remote region which was only suitable for inferior beasts and common animals.
"Begone! Or I will kill you!" The drake lashed her tail, causing the cave to tremble violently.
Luckily, the attack was much slower than he anticipated. Ash swiftly dodge her tail with a side step.
"You can talk with your mind voice? Welp, that solved a lot of headaches on my end."
"What do you want from?!" The drake hissed.
"Nothing, I am just curious. Your footprints led me to this cave hence my unwanted visit." Ash hopped onto her back, checking the wound scrutinizingly. "Please excuse my intrusion, but your flesh has started to rot. It's only a matter of time before it penetrates deeper into your bones. Even with your regeneration ability, you can't fight the spreading rot."
"Hey! Which word did you not understand from LEAVE ME ALONE!" The drake emphasized each letter angrily.
"What if I tell you that I can help you heal this wound? Would you still want me to leave?" Ash raised his eyelid.
"Hmph! Why would I trust a trespasser like you?! If only I could move my leg, you'd die ten seconds ago. Go, I don't need you."
"Fair enough." Ash hopped off from her back. "I'll leave, for now. However, my offer still stands. I lived down the mountain. Raise a voice, or maybe rock the earth if you changed your mind. Farewell."
Sensing no malice from the young bird, the drake felt the sincerity in his words, the drake raised her voice before he left. "Wait."
Ash turned toward her. "That was much sooner than I expected."
"Help me end this suffering. Take my Beast Core if you would. I don't care, just take this pain away from me. But, if you could heal this wound, I'm willing to be your follower, for the rest of my life."
