Reborn: The legend of the Phoenix

This Author has something to say; so I just discovered that there was something I forgot to add in the previous chapter, I would have ignored it but on a second thought I just want to address it now so it will not be confusing. I mentioned that Fusheng had Feilong tutor her, well since Feilong is a dragon it will be inconvenient for him to be seen by people, so he took her up a mountain to learn. This also made it hard for the Assassins after Fusheng's life to get her. I hope it's clear now, I don't even know what I am typing... *Sighs*

Finally the day for the start of school came, the capital was once again abuzz with news about Meng Fusheng. Everyone wanted to see her, to either confirm the rumors or to find out exactly what she had become. Meng Meilan and two friends; Wang Chenling and Zhang Yinling were all geared up to destroy Fusheng's reputation at the Academy, the Assassins after Fusheng vowed to not let her enter into the Academy. 

The main character of all these preparations was still sleeping in the lodge, tired from the Martial arts class that ended the previous day.

As it was the official day for the opening of school the capital was busy, especially the Academy gates. Many prestigious families personally came with their carriages to drop of their children. The Meng Family was not left behind, in fact their carriage was even more splendid and attracted a lot of attention.

Most of the attention on the Meng Family's carriage stemmed from melon eaters (Gossips) waiting to catch sight of Meng Fusheng, while the others were Meilan's fans and admirers.

As the carriage doors opened and the people caught sight of Meilan without seeing Fusheng anywhere around the carriage, majority of the melon eaters were disappointed, while the group of Meilan's fans were excited.

Meilan had really put in a lot of effort to dress up, she was often known as the goddess, and that day she really dressed up as a goddess. She wore a peach hanfu with a snow white cloak, with light makeup on her face, she looked really angelic. She also had this aloof look that made her seem kind but not approachable.

As she stepped down from the carriage, someone asked "Sister Meilan, where is your sister?"

Meilan froze but she had expected this question, so she flashed a shy smile and said "Hmmm, this morning I asked jiejie(older sister) to come back to school with me, but she refused. She did not even look like she was coming to the Academy at all. Lanlan does not know if Jiejie does not want to be seen with me."

Meilan pouted, her face looking very wronged "Lanlan has always looked forward to attending school together with Jiejie."

This statement invoked the pity of the onlookers. Wang Chenling who was waiting around with Zhang Yinling to add fuel to the fire then said "Do not be sad our goddess, that Fusheng is not worth being sad over."

Zhang Yinling added "Yes do not be sad. We do not even want Fusheng to sit with you, least she corrupts your pure aura with her bad luck."

The onlookers agreed with what Zhang Yinling said and whispered amongst themselves "No need to come with that immoral girl." "You don't need to waste your good wishes on her Lanlan."

Meilan then faked a scolding voice and said "No don't say that about Older sister. She was once brilliant and she is..... Kind." 

Meilan concealed a smile with her handkerchief, she had succeeded in making the people know that she Meilan was kind and gracious and also succeeded in making people remember l that Fusheng was a waste and an useless person.

As they were about to continue that charade of "No don't that, no do that" a cold and arrogant voice said while scoffing "I can see that some people are so jobless and bored that they decided to stage a drama this morning."

Meilan and her minions froze at that voice, Zhang Yinling and Wang Chenling hurriedly bowed and said "Greetings to Jiejie (older sister)"

The owner of the voice gave them a cold side eye and said "Who is your Jiejie?"

Meilan together with her minions bowed and said "Greetings to Li Xueying"

Li Xueying sneered at them and said particularly to Meilan "I was thinking that some people were already courageous to the point of no longer paying their respects."

Meilan gritted her teeth and said "No you misunderstood, Lanlan..."

She could not complete her words because Li Xueying interrupted her and said "Do not sully my ears this early." And with that she left.

Meilan gritted her teeth once again, she really hated that daughter of Old Li. There were very few people in the capital that Meilan could not afford to offend and asides from the members of the Royal family the only other person was Li Xueying. She was effortlessly perfect, Meilan took all the time this morning to make her self look so pure and cold, but Xueying did not even apply makeup and still looked pure and cold, even more than Meilan that spent several hours on her face.

If Fusheng was the most beautiful girl in the capital then Xueying was the second most beautiful girl in the capital, in fact Fusheng and Xueying's beauty could rival each other. Fusheng was a fiery beauty, while Xueying was a cold beauty, both were incredibly noble even without trying. 

Before Fusheng lost her cultivation and beauty, she and Xueying were best of friends, even more close than sisters. 

One of the reasons that Meixin and Meilan did not want Fusheng coming to the Academy was so that she could not link up with Li Xueying, because then they would not have any way to even touch Fusheng. 

Meilan twisted her handkerchief and said to herself "Fusheng must not come to the Academy."

While all these was happening Fusheng the main character of the day, was just waking up. As she stretched on the bed, she gave a lazy yawn and looked at the reflection of the sunlight coming into the room through the window. She groggily sat on the bed gave another lazy yawn, sat cross-legged on the bed and stretched again. She resembled a cat that was just waking up.

Feilong sitting on the chair in the room said "If someone was to barge in here now, they would not believe that you are actually supposed to go back to school today."

Fusheng gave a sultry laugh and said "What can I say? I have to make my fans wait for me a little, after all I have a feeling that I will be the main character of the day today."

Feilong looked at her with the eyes of a proud teacher and said "Little girl now that I look at it, you temperament has actually changed. Haha I did a really good job as a teacher."

Fusheng smirked and said "You sure did do a good job, but I think it's best to say that I am a good student myself. I mean you could have been literally talking to yourself."

Feilong narrowed his eyes and said "You.. fine I brought this on myself, just get ready so you can make to school in time " with that he vanished.

Still with a lazy demeanor, Fusheng got up completed her morning duties and got dressed. 

Over the time when the people of the capital was looking for her, she had repeatedly snuck into the Meng House to take her mother's clothes and she also found out that Feilong could store things for her in a space where people can not enter. So she gave him the clothes and other valuables to keep for her.

As she finished dressing up, she summoned Feilong to come back and braid her hair. While she was training and preparing herself, she found out that Feilong could really braid and good hairstyles, so she quickly put him to good use. She told him to braid her hair before tying it up in a ponytail. When Feilong was done with styling her hair, Fusheng admired herself in the mirror and said "Aishh I am so handsome."

Feilong rolled his eyes and said "Get grip young lady, have some shame."

Fusheng smiled and went on to disfigure her face with black spots, then Feilong helped to make the spots look real and not fade away.

With that Fusheng happily went out of her room and signed out of the lodge house. Every one that saw her as she was leaving could not help but ask themselves if that was not Fusheng who was supposed to be at the Academy.

As Fusheng stepped into the street, she came across a stall selling petty items, she stopped and looked through it. A red and black folding handfan caught her attention, so she bought it .

Feilong once again took the form of a silver dragon and said "You have to be very careful today, there are people following us and they sure don't look friendly."

Fusheng chuckle and said "That is more like it, I would even be worried if they did not send them after me. Well as a good host, I have to make sure they are well taken care of." She smiled again and continued walking.

Just like before people were constantly staring at her, some of the stares were hostile, while others were just curious, but unlike before Fusheng did not even let the stares affect her, she even smiled at the people from time to time. This made the people staring at her, to awkwardly look away. Some could not help themselves but say "This girl is just so shameless, she is already late for school but she is not even making an attempt to walk fast, I pray they lock her out for late coming."

Fusheng heard this and turned to smirk at the direction of the voice. She knew that the Academy will soon lock it's gates, but she had already made up her mind to not enter through the gate. She planned to enter through the fence. She needed enough time to deal with the people her stepmother sent to her, or else she would not be a good host.

She smiled at herself and leisurely walked around the market as if she was taking a leisure stroll through her personal garden.

After a long while of making sure that the people following behind her, had walked around the market to heart's content, she picked up pace with her steps.

She entered a lonely road, she yawned lazily and said to Feilong "It is time to find out if I really learned anything throughout the class."

And as she said this, five men quickly blocked the road, they all looked impatient and a bit upset. Their anger could be attributed to the fact that Fusheng made them walk around the market aimlessly for a long period of time. 

The leader of the five said haughtily "You little girl, should already be prepared to face your end because you are not going to leave here alive. I was originally going to let you die peacefully, but you made us walk aimlessly around the market, now I will make you taste pain."

Fusheng already predicted this move, in fact she created a little pity script to read to them but before she could act it out she heard a voice.

"Leave her alone, stop bullying a little girl." 

Fusheng was dumbfounded, when she selected this road, she was so sure that nobody would be on this road at this time, so who exactly was this? And what cringe move was that? 

Before she could react, the leader of the five already instructed his subordinates to take care of the voice.

 The subordinate only kicked a stone and Fusheng heard the sound of a person falling to the ground. Fusheng panicked because she did not want an innocent person to get hurt because of her. She was no longer in the mood to drag things out with these men and planned to finish them off.

Li Xueying: was I cool enough? I really love putting Meilan in her place and that is below me.
