Chapter 456: Confession
Amidst the feeling of betrayal by his partner in crimes, Emberwolf was laughing menacingly as he couldn't wait to watch the others suffer the same miserable fate as him.
'How dare they not use their precious revival tool to come back up and remain as corpses! I'll give you all suffer like me!' He exclaimed inwardly.
Emberwolf might be a clown in front of the cunning Xu Feng, but he was no fool. Having been humiliated all this time yet not a single corpse had revived meant that they had abandoned him.
Since they chose the path of abandonment, then he might as well choose the path of betrayal.
"Speak, what is that condition you speak of!" Emberwolf roared loudly, seemingly urging him to state his one condition.
"Simple, I want a confession, along with the mastermind behind your action." Xu Feng said calmly.
Stunned, Emberwolf didn't know whether Xu Feng was playing him for a fiddle or not.
Confession?
Hadn't he already figured out who he was working for, from way earlier? Otherwise, why would the latter continuously target him and Soulstrider repeatedly?
"You're toying with me, right?" Emberwolf frowned and realized how pathetic it was for him to believe in him. There was simply no way someone as vicious and cunning as Xu Feng would do something good.
"Why would I be toying with you?" Confused, Xu Feng wondered if he had broken his mind a bit too much.
"You've already known who the mastermind is and you still ask me to tell you as the one condition? If you're not toying with me, then what kind of sick game are you playing?"
"I might know it, but I don't have evidence. Don't you know that to incriminate a person, one needs evidence to prove it?"
"Uhh— that's…ugh." Speechless, Emberwolf finally realized what Xu Feng wanted was not a confession for him, but one that was for the public to know.
After struggling internally for a while, Emberwolf's face turned solemn and asked, "If I do as you say, will you give them the same treatment as me— no, even worse than what I receive."
He then pointed at the pile of corpses and demanded to know now.
"I'll even let you do the torturing if you want, given they've abandoned you rather swiftly." Xu Feng mused, clearly enjoying an internal trifle show.
"How do I know you won't lie to me after I did what you said?"
"There's a contract overseen by the System here, Mister Emberwolf. I'm pretty sure your brain was never hit aside from that mushy face once."
Shortly after, Emberwolf signed a contract and agreed to be a witness. As someone belonging to an Adventure Team who operated similarly like a mercenary, he could give zero damn toward the Reaver Guild.
That damnable Reaver Guild dared to ask them to provoke such a mysterious and powerful guild but painted them as some lowly guild that wanted to shatter the sky.
'To hell with them!' Emberwolf sneered inwardly at the Reaver Guild's scheme which caused him to suffer heavily. Very quickly, Emberwolf began to recount how and where it began, along with evidence of the Reaver Guild's presence in orchestrating saboteurs to ruin the Vanguard Guild. "Oh right, there's one more participating group, but till now, I have no idea who they are." Emberwolf suddenly said after exposing the Astral Guild as well in the operation.
"Another participating group?" Xu Feng chuckled and kept it in mind. "Very well, since you are cooperative, you should cherish your last revival and not die."
"Revive Hunter Rick first!" Emberwolf ignored him and straight up pointed at one of his subordinates.
Meanwhile, Hunter Rick who was still hovering in his ghost-like form, felt a cold chill.
"You have my sympathy." Spirit Fang and the rest consoled Hunter Rick.
Although they escaped this time, they weren't happy either as they knew it was only a matter of time before they received the same treatment.
Contrary to their sympathy, Hunter Rick had a grin on his face. "Sympathy? Are you sure it's for me?"
"Huh? Could you possibly contend against that monstrous pet of Guild Leader Lin Feng?" Spirit Fang twitched his brows, unable to comprehend where his confidence was coming from.
"That monstrous pet?" Hunter Rick snickered. "I'll be dead before I can even land a hit on that speedy monster."
"Then where's your unfound confidence? Care to share your secret?"
"Heh, Guild Leader Lin Feng said he'll let my boss do the work, but my boss is currently low in everything. As if he could torture me." Hunter Rick laughed wickedly before he turned into participles, given that he was returning to his corpse.
"Adventure Teams really cannot be trusted." Spirit Fang pursed his lips as he watched Hunter Rick being revived.
Meanwhile, as Hunter Rick came back to live, Emberwolf gnashed his teeth in fury. "Traitorous subordinate! How dare you not revive and assist me!"
"How could I be called traitorous when the enemy is unbeatable?" Hunter Rick shrugged in response. They were all eliminated in an instantaneous manner by Xu Feng's pet, so how could they possibly believe they would stand a chance upon revival?
"That doesn't excuse your behavior!" Emberwolf exclaimed loudly. "Guild Leader Lin Feng, please get your pet to smother him!"
"Don't wanna," Xu Feng flatly said and leaned toward the wall once again.
"What? But you said you let them get the same treatment!" Stupefied, Emberwolf was dumbfounded that Xu Feng would blatantly disregard the contract they had signed.
"Idiot, the Raid Leader said he will let you do it." Hunter Rick suddenly snickered coldly. "But he didn't say anything about helping you out either."
"No, this isn't what we agreed on." Startled, Emberwolf felt as if his whole world was crashing down on him.
The current him had been killed so many times that his health and mana were at an all-time low.
After all, the revival spell wouldn't fully recover them to the max. That would be beyond broken.
"I'm already being generous by not holding you completely responsible for delaying my raid." Xu Feng coldly sneered and turned a blind eye at Emberwolf being slain by his subordinate.
