Chapter 321: Someone with the Same Suffering
Of the five clones Aaron created, one flew south and arrived in the city of London, while the other four were assigned to search for information in four major European cities—Paris, Berlin, Rome, and Madrid.
The purpose of Aaron's clone arriving in London was to get information faster, given that the London Academy of Magic was one of the largest magic academies in the UK.
He stopped flying and landed in front of the academy gate. The guard recognized him and they invited Aaron to enter.
Aaron's clone walked into the academy and witnessed learning in every class in progress, as well as those practicing magic in the training field outside the academy building.
For Head Instructor Jackson, he appeared to be in the training field to train his students. Unlike the previous two students, he was seen training students with a lower mage tier.
They learned how to defend and attack magic, as well as spar with each other. Aaron watched the training from a distance.
"Control your magic well if you don't want to get hurt!" Jackson said, understood by them.
Aaron smiled slightly. He stepped into the open training area, distracting Jackson's attention. Jackson smiled, not expecting Aaron to come again.
"Glad to see you back at the academy, Aaron," Jackson replied, patting Aaron on the shoulder.
"I'm Aaron's clone, the real Aaron is in self-imposed exile up north," Aaron replied, surprising Jackson.
"Wait! You can create your own clone? That's amazing!" Jackson praised.
"I guess I have to learn from you to be like you," Jackson said.
Aaron's clone smiled again, then stared ahead, watching the students practice. Occasionally, the students stole glances to the side, looking at the handsome man who was easier than Jackson was watching their practice.
"Do you need something?" Jackson asked.
"Yes. I need to access the academy library to find out more about the three criminal mage groups," Aaron replied, looking at Jackson.
"Go ahead. Let my student take you there," Jackson said.
Aaron's clone nodded. Jackson called a student named Selena to come closer, the girl being a talented student in her class, with great light talent abilities, reminding Aaron of Natasha.
"Can you take my friend to the main library of the academy?" Jackson asked, making Selena reflexively look at Aaron.
"Sure. I can."
Jackson cleared his throat, then told Aaron that he could go with Selena to get there. Aaron thanked him and left after Selena walked ahead into the academy building.
As she walked down the academy corridor, Selena occasionally glanced back and paid attention to the gestures Aaron was making.
Head instructor Jackson never told her that he had a friend. Aaron's appearance near Jackson came as a surprise to many people, one of them being Selena.
"Were you friends with Instructor Jackson in the past?" Selena asked, starting the conversation.
"Yes. He was my best friend, we did a raid about 12 years ago," Aaron said.
"12 years? Why didn't you sign up as an instructor like Instructor Jackson?"
"There were some things that happened to me back then and it's better for me not to tell you about it," Aaron explained.
After Aaron said so, Selena did not continue to ask. She continued to walk with Aaron from the academy corridor until they arrived at the door of the academy's main library.
The door was open, not many students visited the library that morning, Aaron could count them on one hand.
Selena walked over to the librarian and told her about Aaron. She also handed over Jackson's library card for Aaron to use.
The librarian stepped away from the reception desk, stood directly in front of Aaron and asked what kind of books Aaron was looking for.
"I'm looking for information on world history and mage groups. Can you help me?" asked Aaron.
"Sure. I'll show you the bookshelves," replied the librarian.
After Aaron entered the rows of bookshelves in the library, Selena returned to the practice field to rejoin the others.
Aaron was still there, accompanied by the female librarian. Unexpectedly, quite a lot of books were on display in that place, possibly numbering in the hundreds for just one topic.
"This row of bookshelves contains information about world history and mage groups that have been founded. Take your time, sir," replied the librarian.
"But because you came using Mr. Jackson's card, you don't have the opportunity to borrow a book and take it home," explained the woman.
"Don't worry. I'll finish it in one sitting."
The female librarian was happy to hear those words. She said goodbye and returned to the reception desk to receive other visitors, unlike Aaron's clone who was immediately confronted with hundreds of books on the shelf.
"Where should I start?"
Aaron picked up several books relevant to the information he was looking for. He opened and read them meticulously, sheet by sheet of the 500-page book.
From the book, Aaron could find out the exact reason for the formation of mage groups on Earth and their principles. Some aimed to garner political support, some focused on raids, and some just wanted to take care of the economy and business. They all had different goals.
Of the thousands of mage groups on record, he found information about the Golden Cross. The information in this book is much less than the books he read while waiting for Jackson in Jackson's study, not very useful.
"Searching for information in the library is hampered by information updates. Here, it is written that the Golden Cross is still affiliated with Integrity Knight."
"In another book, it says that Golden Cross has gone astray. Which one can I believe?" Aaron asked, monologizing.
When Aaron was reading the book alone, his aura of magic detected a female student eavesdropping at the end of this shelf. Aaron closed his book and moved quickly, surprising the girl.
"D-Did she realize I was there?" asked the girl.
Aaron arrived behind the girl and touched her shoulder. The girl turned around quickly and was shocked to find the person she was monitoring behind her, the power of the sudden and terrifying displacement of place.
"Do you have business with me?" asked Aaron, firmly.
"I'm sorry. I accidentally overheard you talking about Golden Cross. I thought I could help you if you would help me," said the girl, a brunette with a braid, wearing round glasses, the nerdy type.
"I'm listening!" said Aaron.
"My parents were kidnapped by Golden Cross 2 years ago because of this, I hid at the academy to protect myself," replied the girl, showing a green jewel that had strong magical abilities, equivalent to a mage of the Venerable Sage level.
"Venerable Sage level magical artifact?" asked Aaron.
"Ssshh ... don't talk too loudly," she whispered, placing one finger in front of her mouth.
"May I?" asked Aaron, pointing to the jewel.
At first, the girl seemed hesitant about Aaron's request. However, after convincing herself, the girl took off the necklace and handed it to Aaron.
When Aaron's hand grasped it, how surprised he was to realize that it was the scales of the legendary dragon of the past, the dragon that was said to have escaped from the Dark Pillar Tower and caused chaos in several Unions.
Aaron could tell because he saw a glimpse of the past when he touched it. Aaron closed his eyes, realizing why criminal groups like the Golden Cross were hunting for this gem.
"It's natural for them to hunt for this object. This object can help mages enhance weapons or create high-level magic formations," Aaron replied.
"That's why my parents entrusted this gem to me. They don't want Golden Cross to get it," the girl explained.
"What's your name?" Aaron asked.
"My name is Mirena."
"I will help you save your parents. That is if you want to help me," Aaron replied.
"Help with information about Golden Cross? I can help you."
