Chapter 802: Missed Her
Damien died inside when he realize what he just did. He had accidentally revealed what he wasn't supposed to. And by doing so, he had unleashed the devilish and most fearsome side of the King of Hell.
"Michael tried to kill my daughter's reincarnation?" Lucifer growled in rage.
The hellfire's flames on his white wings burned so high that Damien took a few steps back, fearing that he could get caught in that fire.
Damien wiped the sweat beads from his forehead and stuttered, "Umm… No, he did not. I mean… he… he might have tried to do that. But he wasn't after Joyce, he was after Ariel. And Joyce was caught in between, just like everyone else."
A menacing cackle resounded throughout the throne hall. Lucifer ran all of his fingers through his silver hair and then gripped it tightly as if he was greatly frustrated. And he snarled while glaring at the ceiling, "That bastard is now after Ariel? His another niece?"
Damien pressed his lips together and held his breath. He wanted to punch himself in the mouth because every time he opened his mouth, he was making it worse for Lucifer. And now, he didn't know whether or not to answer Lucifer.
"What is going on here?"
Damien turned to look at the door when he heard his mother's exasperated voice. And he instantly screamed in his mind as if his mother could hear his thoughts, "Mother! Please drag me out of this situation! I think I will make King Lucifer go on a rampage if I stay here for another second!"
However, unlike Maple, his mother wasn't able to read his thoughts.
And instead of dragging him away, Lilith bowed to Lucifer in panic and said in her trembling voice, "Your Majesty, did my son do anything wrong? If he did then I will apologize on his behalf."
Before reaching the throne hall, she had heard Lucifer growling Michael's name. Thus, she feared that Damien might have triggered Lucifer's past trauma and made him lose his rationality when she saw him fully displaying his terrifying form.
Lucifer closed his eyes and replied to Lilith in a bit softer tone, "No, Lilith. He didn't do anything." He wasn't sure if Damien told Lilith about Joyce, or how much he said. So, he didn't say a word about the conversation that he was having with Damien.
When Lucifer didn't say why he was so enraged, Lilith glanced at Damien hoping that she would get an answer from him.
However, Damien had already realized his mistake. He didn't want to open his mouth and hurt his mother as well. So, he simply avoided his mother's gaze and looked back at Lucifer.
Seeing Damien avoiding his mother's gaze, Lucifer guessed that Lilith knew little to nothing about their daughter and the attack by Michael. So, he asked her, "Lilith, why don't you give us some time? I want to have a private conversation with Damien."
Lilith nodded her head. She didn't want to question Lucifer when he wasn't in the right state of his mind. But she did what she came there for. She looked at Damien and asked, "Meet me before returning to Earth. I still have some things to say to you."
"I will," Damien gave a nod to her.
Lilith pointed outside the door and said before leaving, "I will be right outside."
When Lilith was away from the view, Lucifer made sure that the voices from the hall wouldn't escape outside. He then looked back at Damien and asked for the details, "Tell me what Michael did. And what did you mean when you said 'protect her this time'?"
Damien knew that there was no way he was going to escape before answering Lucifer's questions. So, he started to recount everything that had happened.
He briefed how Michael and his son came and attacked them out of nowhere, why Michael wanted Ariel out of his way, and how he didn't even flinch before ordering his own son to kill Ariel. He also made sure to tell how God had come to the rescue, and how he had punished Michael by removing him from his position.
Lucifer calmed down a little when he got to know that their father had punished Michael. He retracted his wings, finally making the hall a little less cool than an active volcano.
Lucifer sat back down on his throne and mumbled, "If only father had sent him down to Hell as his punishment… I would have burned his soul to a crisp."
Damien didn't say it, but he thought to himself, "I think I know why Michael wasn't cast down to Hell even after attempting to kill Ariel. He wouldn't have survived more than 5 minutes down here. I bet even his soul would have completely disintegrated."
From the way how Lucifer wasn't questioning him any further, Damien assumed that Lucifer had forgotten about another topic that would have prompted him to spread out his wings again. And he wasn't going to remind that to Lucifer; he didn't want to reveal the prophecy about Joyce, at least not right now.
After waiting for a while, Damien decided to leave the hall since it didn't seem like Lucifer had something more to say. "Your Majesty, I will take a leave then," he said after bowing.
Lucifer gave a nod, but before Damien walked out, he asked him, "If you meet Theodore then deliver him my message. Ask him to visit me at the earliest time possible."
"I will relay your message to Prince Theodore, Your Majesty," Damien gave a low bow to Lucifer, and then turned his head towards the door to see if his mother was standing right outside.
Lucifer gazed at Damien and then asked again, "And tell her… Tell Joyce that I greatly missed her. And tell her that I am very happy to know that she has reincarnated."
Damien gave a subtle smile and agreed to Lucifer, "I will, Your Majesty."
He then walked out of the hall to find his mother. He was sure that she wanted to talk some more about Joyce. Read latest chapters at My Virtual Library Empire
Sure enough, Lilith also had a message for Joyce. "Tell Joyce that I have been listening to her stories from you since she was little. So, I feel like I have always known the new her. I can safely say that I am proud of who she has become. Tell her that I missed her."
