Shinji And The Multiverse Of Madness

Chapter 4: England, 1994

13th October, 1994

"Brrr..."

Clutching his thick woollen parka even tighter, Shinji wandered around the streets of London, cold slowly climbing his ankles. He was mad.

Very, very, mad...

His father and uncle had decided to send him to England during October, as a sort of 'educational trip', while they were busy with some 'personal business' back home. They all thought that Shinji was an idiot, and that he was fooled into believing that he was some sort of scientific prodigy who only came once every 1000 years.

But he was no fool

He knew why he was ditched in this God forsaken land during winter...

The Holy Grail War

A war between Magi that occurs by them summoning 7 servants from the seven different classes: Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster, Berserker and Assassin. The last remaining Master (those who command the servants) but can be granted a wish upon the almighty Holy Grail, a magical wish-granting device, and have their wildest dreams come true.

But Shinji was excluded, for he had no Magical Circuits in his body, dredged through generations because of being stranded from their native land of Russia. Since he was a failure (unlike his uncle Kariya), they decided to send him abroad, preferably England, until the end of the War, as they didn't want to keep a 'liability' in their hands as the war raged on.

Pissed, Shinji threw tantrums, until old man Zouken threatened to disown him if he continued his shenanigans. This calmed him down, for he still wanted the title of being a 'Magus' heir. Finally relenting, he packed his shit up, and travelled to England.

It has been several days since he arrived in England, and despite having numerous servants around him, they all treated him like air, for he was no longer a Magus. All they did was guard him every time he went outside, doing nothing and leaving him to his own devices.

Stupid servants, don't they know I'm part of the three Great Families of Fuyuki city!? Just wait until I get back home, and then they'll see...

Bam!

"Ow! What was that!?"

His heart stopped, for he realised that his rock had got someone. Not wanting to be caught and punished, Shinji quickly escaped, using the tiny alleyways as a means to confuse his captor.

After what seemed like hours, he had finally escaped from the person who was hit by the rock, but suddenly realised something.

He was lost

And terribly at that. Gone were the familiar streets he was used to, peddled and traveled by Magi, and in came people wearing glasses and corny t-shirts, a species colloquially known as...

Nerds

Scared, Shinji clutched his parka even tighter, praying that his servants would come and rescue him. Just as he was about to cry, a chunky man carrying several small figurines and a thick book saw him. Seeing a small boy all alone, he felt pity in his heart. Realising that the boy was truly alone, he made sure for a final time that it was not some pedo sting operation from the police, he approached Shinji, kneeling down onto his knees, wehre he, with solid conviction, gave him one of the small blue figurines from his collection. "Here kid, take it. Dont cry no more, perhaps your folks searching for you right now..."

But Shinji paid no heed to him at all. His mind was more focused on the small toy in front of him.

A small armoured man, clad in what appeared to be an archaic sci-fi suit, was wielding what appeared to be a combination of a chainsaw and a sword. Despite its menacing tome, Shinji felt drawn to it, for the small man radiated with manliness, something he really wanted. He felt confidence coming from him, as if nothing stood in his way, a soldier dedicated to his duty.

"What is he...?"

The fat man lifted his glasses, smirking at the young initiate. "That, my dear boy, is a Space Marine from the Ultramarine Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes."

Standing up, he spread his hands. Fanaticism evident on his face, Shinji couldn't help but be drawn in into it.

"Welcome... to Warhammer, 40K!"
