Chapter 1271: Discussing peace (2)

But it wasn't as if everyone was satisfied with this.

There were some that had greed that wasn't just satisfied with these terms and wanted more.

"Do you think that just some resources are enough for us? We want workers as well that will help us gather resources." One of the human representatives suddenly cut in.

When Elizabeth heard this, she knitted her brows.

That was because she could tell that this human representative's demand wasn't this simple.

When he said 'worker', it was clear that he meant a different kind of worker.

He was talking about the kind of worker that didn't need to be paid and only needed to be fed. He was talking about the kind of worker that one could get rid of whenever they wanted.

What he was talking about was a slave.

The other human representatives also understood what he meant by this, but there was a mixed response that came from them.

After all, it wasn't as if every human kingdom endorsed slavery.

There were some that used slavery, but no other kingdom interfered with this since each kingdom was free to run their territory how they wanted. Even if the other kingdoms didn't endorse slavery, it didn't mean that they had the right to stop others from using slaves.

After a long moment of silence, Elizabeth just completely ignored this human representative and looked at me.

The look in her eyes was as if she was asking me if this person represented the will of the entire human race.

I shook my head and said, "No, we will not be asking for that. You have overstepped."

As soon as I said this, that human representative looked at me with an ugly look.

He never thought that I would reject him to his face like this.

After all, we were all humans on the same side. At the very least, I shouldn't refute him to his face like this and would open the floor to discussion.

But the way that I said this was as if I was completely shutting this matter down.

Since I was the king of a small kingdom, one that was smaller than his, he wasn't happy about this.

After all, even if my kingdom was powerful because of the wyverns, the undead, and all of the other things that we possessed, it wasn't as if we had enough territory yet to have any prestige among the human race.

Even if I was chosen as the representative, I shouldn't have dared to refute a king of a large kingdom like him.

But that was what I did.

That human representative was about to say something else, but someone else cut him off.

"We do not endorse it either." The representative from the Holy Empire added this simple remark.

It was one thing for the king of a small kingdom to say this, but for the representative from the Holy Empire.

This was then followed by the representative from both the Tide Empire and the Sorcery Empire.

The support from the Sorcery Empire seemed a bit confusing since it wasn't as if I was close to them, but that was more than enough to clinch it.

The Democratic Union was the only one that didn't say anything, but it was more that they couldn't say anything since they too used slaves. They were the only empire among the four empires that had slaves, but it was a different system from the rest of the kingdoms.

It was a system where slaves were properly managed and had far less deaths than any other -country.

Still, they couldn't speak up against slavery since they were one of the ones that used slavery. Seeing that three of the four empires supported me, the others had no choice but to back down.

Elizabeth's brows relaxed when she saw this.

Since she was the demon queen, it was only natural that she had been introduced to the representatives of the four empires and she knew what the four empires represented.

"Then I have a third condition as well." She said as if she was moving on with this matter, completely ignoring the matter with the slaves.

The human representatives that wanted to talk about slavery revealed frowns when they heard this.

It was one thing for the representatives from the four empires to refute them, but for this demon queen to ignore it as well... It made them feel that they had been slighted.

But there was nothing that they could do since the representatives from the four empires were here.

All they could do was swallow this anger.

After a pause, Elizabeth continued by saying, "We want to ask for help from the one that purified that corruption energy."

This was a surprising request since no one expected her to bring this up.

I narrowed my eyes to look at her before asking, "Why?"

Elizabeth gave a sigh before saying, "Just like your land has been corrupted by the corruption energy, it is the same for our land. We are suffering just like you, so naturally we need help purifying the corruption energy."

"Even though you're the ones that submitted to the owner of said corruption energy?" I asked in an accusatory voice.

For the first time, she showed a trace of weakness.

There was an awkward look that appeared on Elizabeth's face as she turned away from me.

Then after a moment of hesitation, she said, "It's not as if we wanted to submit...It's just that we couldn't resist. I did what I could, but there really wasn't anything that we could do."

After she said this, there was a long silence that lingered in the air.

All of the representatives from the different races all narrowed their eyes to look at Elizabeth after she said this.

I was the one that broke the silence by asking, "Then what do you know about the owner of the corruption energy? If you want our help, you have to at least offer information that's

worth it."
