Chapter 1272: Discussing peace (3)
There was still that same awkward look on Elizabeth's face, but she eventually gave a nod of agreement.
With a sigh, she said, "It's hard for me to give you this information because there isn't much that I know about this either. I hope that you will not mind if some of the information is lacking."
The human representatives knitted their brows upon hearing this.
It seemed like some of them wanted to cause trouble again for her by saying something, but they didn't get a chance in the end as I said, "Alright, we'll listen to you and decide afterwards."
Elizabeth gave a nod in response before she started telling her story.
The story was actually quite simple since there wasn't that much information about the owner of the corruption energy either.
It was just that one day, they found this artifact in one of their mines.
When it was brought to the demon king, her father, he isolated himself for a week before coming out with this new form of corruption energy.
Leading the other demons, he dug deeper into the mine and dug out more of these artifacts. Though the artifacts that he dug out afterwards were different from the one that he dug out in the first place.
The ones that he dug out were the orbs that had been filled with the corruption energy.
They hadn't been filled with corruption energy at first. At first, they were nothing more than ordinary orbs that didn't have a single thing in them.
But after some tinkering from the former demon king, these orbs had been filled with that corruption energy and had been sent to the various demons.
None of them knew where this corruption energy came from, but they didn't question it since it was an order from the demon king.
In the demon race society, the orders of the demon king were absolute. It was a society that ruled depending on the power of the ruler, so those demons that were weaker wouldn't
complain about the orders of the demon king.
And the rest was what everyone knew already.
Well, there were a few things that the demon race did that the human race didn't know about. These were things that had been perpetrated in secret and had been prepared for the invasion, it was just that they hadn't been able to reach that far into human territory.
Though she didn't say it, it was clear what she was implying.
They never expected the human race to have all these different trump cards.
When that was said, everyone couldn't help turning to look at me.
They all knew what trump cards she was silently implying.
I diverted the center of attention away from me by asking, "Where is the thing that the demon king found in the first place?"
Elizabeth shook her head to say, "We don't know."
As soon as she said this, everyone deeply knitted their brows. After all, based on her story, this was the thing that had started everything.
If it was left alone, there was no doubt that there would be even more chaos in the future. This was a thing that could create corruption energy and if someone were to find it and use it, it would be the same situation as before.
This was the last thing that anyone wanted to see.
"Without that thing, we cannot agree to any of your terms." I said in a deep and serious voice.
This time, there wasn't a single person who disagreed with me. It seemed that everyone supported me in this decision since they all knew what the consequences would be if this thing was allowed to remain out there.
There was a very awkward look that appeared on Elizabeth's face at this before she slowly shook her head and said, "We really don't know where it is. I want to hand it over, but it disappeared when our king, my father, died."
Though it was clear that she was in pain from talking about this, there wasn't a single person that sympathized with her.
The consequences of making this mistake would be very big, so no one could feel sympathy for her.
Seeing the way that everyone looked at her, Elizabeth knew what they were all thinking. Even without this, she was able to guess what everyone was thinking.
If it was her, she would have reacted the same way as them.
So the only thing that she could do was say with a sigh, "We're willing to do whatever it takes to prove that we're not lying. You can search wherever you want in our lands to prove this."
The fact that she was offering this was enough to show how sincere she was. Or it could even be said that this was enough to prove how desperate she was.
No one said a single thing after she made this offer, but the expression on their faces seemed to relax a bit after hearing this. It seemed that they were at least a bit willing to hear her out.
I broke that silence by suddenly asking, "What happened to the place that the orbs were dug out of?"
Elizabeth was surprised to hear this question and it seemed like she had to think for a bit before she said, "It was abandoned after a while because all of the orbs had already been dug out. There was nothing left behind for us to find."
"Is that so? Then can we have a look at that place as well?" I asked right after she said this.
This time, Elizabeth didn't hesitate to nod in agreement before saying, "No problem. As long as you come to the territory of us demons, I'll be your guide."
I didn't say anything in response since it wasn't as if anything had been decided yet. But with the way that things were going, it really seemed like it was leading to me heading to the demon territory.
Though I had to admit that I was indeed curious about the demon territory.
I was curious how much it had changed from how it was in the game.
