The evening breeze was cool, the water's surface glittering as it undulated with the soft moonlight.
At the Cascade Hot Spring below the waterfall, Kamihane was soaking in the water, as usual. The difference was that Hikari was in the water with him.
The flowing water gently caressed her soft waist, and the moonlight outlined her slender and exquisite figure, her fair body radiating a delicate luster, like a jade.
The two nestled close to each other by the shore, gazing at the moon.
"Kamihane, Madara said he would come back tonight. Why haven't we heard anything?" Hikari asked softly.
Kamihane sighed slightly, lying back with his hands behind his head. "I went to check on him. He's at the Valley of the End, pondering in front of the waterfall. He's still thinking about what happened today."
"Because of that Otsutsuki clan?" Hikari blinked, somewhat perplexed. "Since they're the enemy, wouldn't it be fine to just defeat them all? If we need strength, we'll just get stronger."
"It's not that simple." Kamihane shook his head with a wry smile, reaching out to touch her head.
Hikari's face flushed slightly, but she didn't dodge, allowing Kamihane's hand to gently rest on her head, his fingertips tracing across her hair, releasing a delicate fragrance.
"He's considering the meaning of continuing forward, not the way to do so," Kamihane said. "The 'Eye of the Moon Plan' that we've been following might not be the true path to salvation. At first, our purpose was merely to end the war and create peace, but knowing that there are Otsutsuki, everything is different."
"The two of us are simply pushing the burden onto Madara," Kamihane looked up slightly, gazing at the twinkling stars. "He's always thought of us as children."
Hikari squeezed his hand, her beautiful eyes gentle, drifting toward Kamihane with the rippling water.
"I want to hear your opinion."
"My opinion?"
"Yes," Hikari nodded softly.
Kamihane thought for a moment, his eyes deep, his smile distinct. "You should know that I don't have such lofty ideals as Madara. If the situation allows, I just want to be an unburdened vagrant, living freely. As for strength, it's enough to protect what I want to protect."
Hikari silently looked at him, awaiting his explanation.
"But Madara has chosen a path that is too heavy, and his ideal is too grand. Wanting to accomplish it alone is bound to be fraught with difficulties. Who knows if he might be taken advantage of? So…"
Kamihane leaned lazily against the shore, his clear eyes reflecting the moonlight. "I can't bear to see him alone, shouldering everything. Therefore, on this path destined to be filled with difficulties, I am willing to share his burdens. If any enemies become detrimental to him, Otsutsuki or aliens, I will defeat them all."
"I will support you too," Hikari said softly, a hint of tenderness flashing in her eyes.
Kamihane's mouth curved into a warm smile as he raised his hand, touching Hikari's smooth face.
Normally, this would be a considerably "transgressive" action, but tonight, heaven and earth were the same color, and it was just the two of them. Hikari's face was already red, but she accepted his touch.
At that moment, she caught a glimpse of something on Kamihane's palm, something that looked like a crest, like the Strength of a Hundred Seal on her forehead, deeply embedded within his flesh.
She grabbed Kamihane's right hand and looked at it like a small cat, revealing a black rhombus-shaped mark.
"What is this?"
"Oh, you're talking about this," Kamihane replied, his gaze calm. "This thing is called a Kāma. After I defeated Otsutsuki Urashiki, he struggled as he died, and he branded me with it."
"A brand?" Hikari tilted her head, her hair flowing.
"I can sense it. There is an unusual and special power within me, a faint presence of Otsutsuki Urashiki."
"Otsutsuki Urashiki!" Hikari's mouth gaped in surprise. "Weren't you killed by him? Madara said there wasn't even any dust left behind."
Kamihane nodded. "Although that's how it is, this guy copied himself and digitized at the last moment, injecting the special power into my body. I'm not quite sure how he did it, but Kāma is essentially Urashiki himself, including everything: his body and spirit."
"Data…" Hikari furrowed her delicate brows slightly. Despite not understanding it, she felt a sense of foreboding. "Are there any hidden dangers?"
Kamihane's eyes shifted slightly, and he said, "According to my senses, Kāma is a compressed 'Otsutsuki Data Backup.' The compressed file will use me as a host and slowly 'decompress' over a long period of time. Once the battle begins, or when my entire body is in an active chakra state, the 'decompression' process accelerates."
"This…" Hikari's breathing quickened, her water almond eyes flashing with panic. "What happens when 'decompression' is complete?"
"When all the data has been 'unsealed,' my body and soul will be replaced with the data of Otsutsuki Urashiki," Kamihane said calmly, as if talking about something unimportant. "At that time, 'Uchiha Kamihane' will no longer exist. Urashiki will use my body to resurrect completely."
"Splash."
Hikari's face turned white, tightly grabbing Kamihane's right hand. "What are you waiting for? Quick, let's get rid of this Kāma!"
Feeling her cold hands, Kamihane smiled slightly. "It's useless. Urashiki's data has already been directly bound to my body and soul. The Kāma mark is just the external manifestation, and the 'decompression' process is like a stone rolling down a mountain. Once it starts, it won't stop. A foreign chakra has already been born within me."
With a splash, Hikari hurriedly stood up from the spring, her full peaks swaying gently.
"We'll go find Madara; he will definitely have a way!"
"Don't panic," Kamihane smiled wryly, grabbing her slender wrist and pulling her back into the spring.
"Did I say there was no way to deal with it?"
"Eh?"
Kamihane wrapped his arms around her snowy waist, gently whispering, "Have you forgotten about my dōjutsu? Although this thing is extremely difficult to analyze, I can slowly adapt to it."
"Are you saying that your Magokura can adapt to Kāma?" Hikari asked in surprise.
"I can, but the process will be extremely slow." Kamihane rested his face on Hikari's back, feeling the warmth.
Hikari wasn't paying attention; at this moment, her delicate brows were tightly knit, and her mind was filled with the Kāma. "That's not right. Activating dōjutsu will mobilize chakra, but like you said, mobilizing chakra will accelerate data decompression. You're… racing against time!"
"Time is on my side," Kamihane said with a slight laugh. "I can rewind myself every ten minutes, so that my state always remains at its peak. The decompression progress will always be stagnant, but my adaptation will not be covered by the power of time and space. In other words, Urashiki will never succeed, and I can have unlimited time to adapt."
Hikari's brows gradually relaxed, but her eyes were still slightly hesitant. "But that also means that… until the adaptation is complete, you will be stuck in your current state."
"It's better than being possessed, isn't it?"
Kamihane hugged her from behind, squinting his eyes as if he was about to fall asleep. "The only way is to find something to suppress Kāma's decompression, so I can continue to become stronger. The only thing I can think of is…"
"Sealing techniques!" Hikari's beautiful eyes lit up, speaking out the answer.
