The Devil CEO’s Reborn Lover

Chapter 23: Temptation Beneath the Sunlight

The golden hue of dawn spilled across the room, soft and gentle, just like the breath that stirred faintly in the quiet space. Qin Yangzhou stirred first, his gaze settling on the peaceful figure of Wu Mei curled under the sheets beside him. As he sat up, the silence was broken by a soft murmur.

"Yangzhou..."

He froze.

Her voice, like a delicate thread from a memory, had drifted into the morning air. He turned swiftly, heart thudding.

"Mei...?" he whispered, but she remained asleep, her lips parted slightly, her brows furrowed as if recalling something. It was the first time she had uttered his name since losing her memory.

Could it be...? Could her memories be starting to return?

Qin Yangzhou's chest swelled with cautious hope. He didn't dare wake her, not yet. He wanted to see if it happened again.

A few moments later, Wu Mei slowly opened her eyes, blinking against the morning light. She found Qin Yangzhou sitting beside her, staring gently.

Curious, she lifted her hand and traced a finger across his face, brushing the curve of his cheek and lingering on his lips. She believed he was still asleep.

But then his eyes fluttered open, and he caught her wrist in one swift move.

"Good morning, wife," he said huskily.

Startled, Wu Mei blushed, but a small smile tugged at her lips. "Good morning."

He leaned in and gave her a soft kiss on the lips. "Morning kiss," he teased with a smile.

Embarrassed, she pushed him away playfully and got out of bed, heading toward the bathroom.

Downstairs, breakfast had been set. Qin Yangzhou sat waiting, dressed sharply, sipping tea. When Wu Mei appeared, wearing a light cream dress, her hair still damp from her shower, he gestured to the chair next to his.

"Sit here."

She glanced at the chair and then walked to sit farther down the table.

Qin Yangzhou watched her, frowning slightly, then stood up and moved to sit next to her. Without a word, he slid her chair closer to him.

"You're not escaping me that easily," he murmured.

Wu Mei looked away, slightly flustered. As they ate, Qin Yangzhou picked a cherry from the bowl in front of him and held it to her lips.

"Eat."

Wu Mei hesitated, then leaned in to take a bite. But just as her lips closed around it, Qin Yangzhou leaned in and kissed her, splitting the cherry between them.

"Sweet," he said, licking his lips.

Wu Mei blinked, confused by his boldness. She didn't speak.

Trying to lighten the mood, he offered, "Wife, would you like to take a walk in the park? It's a beautiful day."

She nodded. "Sure."

Later, they dressed and headed out. The sun warmed the pavement as they strolled through the park. Laughter of children echoed in the distance, and a gentle breeze rustled the leaves overhead.

Near a corner, they spotted an old man selling ice cream from a cart. Wu Mei's eyes lit up.

"Want one?" Qin Yangzhou asked.

"Yes," she smiled.

He bought two cones, and Wu Mei immediately began eating hers. A small spot of cream clung to the corner of her lips.

Qin Yangzhou noticed, chuckled, and leaned in. Without warning, he kissed her there, licking the ice cream away.

Wu Mei gasped and turned away, clearly flustered. He grinned, amused by her reactions.

They continued walking until they reached a grassy area. Qin Yangzhou spread out a blanket and lay back, patting his arm.

"Come."

Wu Mei hesitated, then sat beside him, resting against his arm. He wrapped it around her, holding her close.

For a few quiet moments, it felt peaceful. But then Wu Mei's eyes caught a figure in the distance—a man, standing partly hidden behind a tree, watching them.

Her body stiffened. "It's him," she whispered. "The man who's been following me."

She stood abruptly.

"What is it?" Qin Yangzhou asked, rising with her.

"He's there. He's watching me. I've seen him before."

Before he could respond, Wu Mei broke into a run, chasing after the figure. Qin Yangzhou cursed and ran after her.

"Mei, wait! It could be dangerous!"

"Let go!" she snapped, breaking free of his grasp.

But the man had already vanished into the thick of the trees.

Breathing hard, Wu Mei stopped and turned. "Why did you stop me?!"

"Because I care about you! I won't let you get hurt again."

She pushed past him in frustration but tripped on a root and fell forward. Qin Yangzhou caught her, but her knee landed awkwardly on his lap.

A sharp intake of breath escaped him as she accidentally pressed down against his crotch.

His eyes darkened. "Princess... what are you doing?"

Wu Mei blinked, realizing the awkward position they were in. She scrambled off him, blushing fiercely.

Qin Yangzhou gritted his teeth, trying to control himself. But the moment had already sent a spark between them.

He reached forward, cupping her face. "You're driving me crazy, you know that?"

"I didn't mean to," she mumbled.

He leaned in slowly, his lips brushing hers, pausing only inches away. "I'll kiss every inch of you if you don't tell me to stop."

Wu Mei's lips trembled, but she couldn't say anything. Her heart pounded in her chest.

Qin Yangzhou kissed her—slow and deep.

When he pulled back, he said softly, "Let's go home princess, we'll have a long night."

Wu Mei looked away, confused by her feelings, she didn't say anything.

They walked in silence back to the car.

As they rode home, Qin Yangzhou held her hand tightly, as if afraid she might disappear again.

And for the first time in many days, Wu Mei didn't pull away.

She fall for him and the dreams that she had in the morning, she thinks that he love her and that they were together before the accident.
