Chapter 41: Magic World
The morning sunlight filtered softly through the sheer curtains of their bedroom. Qin Yanzhou stirred first, blinking his eyes open as the warmth of the sun kissed his skin. He turned his head and smiled upon seeing Wu Mei still asleep beside him, her breathing slow and gentle, her features peaceful.
He leaned in and brushed a soft kiss on her forehead, then moved his hand to gently caress her waist, his fingers tracing the curve of her side. A deep sense of possessiveness and affection stirred in his chest. He wrapped his arm around her for a moment longer, planting another kiss on her head before quietly getting up to stretch.
Not long after, Wu Mei blinked awake, her eyes fluttering open to meet the soft morning light. She sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes. "Good morning," she murmured, her voice still laced with sleep.
"Morning, my love," Qin Yanzhou replied with a soft smile.
Wu Mei stood and made her way to the bathroom. Once inside and with the door closed, she reached into her drawer and pulled out the folded letter she had hidden the night before. Her heart raced as she carefully opened it and began to read:
> "Dear reader, If you are reading this letter, it means you have already found the enchanted ring and bracelet—and the map. The map will guide you to a new world I once discovered, a world filled with magic and fantastical creatures. This map will lead you to a rare treasure: a magical wand that once belonged to me.
I plead with whoever finds this to retrieve the wand before my enemy does. His name is Dracon, and he desires all magic for himself. If he obtains the wand, he will plunge the world into darkness. I beg you, destroy the wand if you find it. End the magic before it destroys everything.
With love, Xia Yi Ling."
Wu Mei stared at the letter, her heart pounding. A world of magic? A powerful wand? It sounded like fantasy—but she had already seen too much to deny it.
Without hesitating, she called Mo Qing. "Keep the map safe," she whispered. "I'm coming today again. There's more we have to uncover."
"I'll be waiting," Mo Qing replied.
Just as Wu Mei ended the call and opened the door to exit the bathroom, she found Qin Yanzhou leaning against the frame with arms crossed.
"Going somewhere, princess?" he asked, one eyebrow arched.
Wu Mei blinked, startled. "You heard everything?"
He smirked. "You talk louder than you think."
Wu Mei bit her lip. "I want to find out what's in that house. But I can't go alone. I need someone with me."
"Who?" he asked, stepping closer.
She looked into his eyes and smiled. "My husband."
Qin Yanzhou's lips twitched. "You know how to convince me, don't you? Fine. Let's go. But you're staying close to me the entire time."
They dressed quickly and packed the essentials—water, a flashlight, the bracelet, the ring, and a copy of the map. This time, Wu Mei wore no cuffs. She sat beside Qin Yanzhou in the car, and as they drove, she rested her head on his shoulder, comforted by his presence.
When they arrived at the forest, Mo Qing was already waiting near the hidden grove. She waved at them as they exited the car.
"You two ready for another adventure?" Mo Qing teased.
Wu Mei nodded eagerly. "More than ready."
They walked together through the shaded forest, the chirping of birds and rustling of leaves accompanying their steps until they reached the hidden staircase. The trio descended into the tunnel and walked for nearly thirty minutes before the underground path opened again into the expansive field.
In the distance stood the same mysterious house, like a secret waiting to be unraveled.
Inside the house, Wu Mei pulled the map from her pocket and began studying it. Her fingers traced along the strange, looping lines until her eyes landed on an unfamiliar symbol—a glowing orb.
"That must be it," she whispered, stepping toward a glass pedestal on which sat a shimmering crystal sphere.
"Wait—" Qin Yanzhou began, reaching for her arm.
Mo Qing echoed him, "Don't touch it yet!"
But Wu Mei's curiosity had already driven her hand forward. The moment her fingers grazed the orb's surface, a bright light exploded around them.
A whirl of magic consumed the room. Wu Mei felt herself being pulled, twisted in a spiral of light. Qin Yanzhou caught her hand, and Mo Qing clung to her other arm.
Everything vanished.
And then they landed—softly—on a grassy hilltop.
The sky above them shimmered a brilliant blue, with clouds shaped like mythical beasts drifting lazily. Rainbow-colored butterflies fluttered around them, and the air smelled sweet and warm, like springtime forever.
They stood up slowly, gazing around in awe. Below the hill was a vibrant valley filled with pastel-colored homes, winding streams, and at its heart—a magnificent palace made of crystal and gold.
"Where are we?" Qin Yanzhou murmured, eyes wide.
"We're not in our world anymore," Mo Qing said, her voice breathless. "We're in the magical realm... the one from the letter."
Wu Mei clutched the bracelet on her wrist. It glowed softly, resonating with the magic around them.
"It's beautiful..." she whispered. "But we don't know how to get back."
Qin Yanzhou moved closer to her, protective. "Then we find the wand and get out before anything dangerous finds us. You're carrying our child, Mei. I'm not letting anything happen to you."
Wu Mei nodded, her heart thudding with a mixture of excitement and fear.
The journey had only just begun, and they had already crossed into a realm of impossible wonders. But with the glowing map, a mysterious letter, and her husband and friend by her side, Wu Mei was ready to uncover the secrets this world held.
Even if it meant facing dragons, ancient curses, or the dark force named Dracon...
She would not back down.
To be continued...
