Chapter 292: The Protection Master
Mikey teleported to the other end of the wall, to meet the Lyma capital in good shape. The walls had surprised him a little, but this, the buildings he had poured his sweat and time into still stood. The capital was perfect, nothing about it indicated any harm inflicted to the place, much less an earthquake shaking things up.
He slowly drifted forward, zooming down the path that led to the Duke's estate. Mikey couldn't stop turning his head, the capital had changed since he last left.
"There are much more people, the capital is a bustling city once again." They had struggled to find those to occupy the houses they had built, workers were partly unavailable to fill in their roles. A city could be rebuilt, but not those that were in it.
However, now, that seemed to be no problem. The city had just about the right amount of people.
Though the homes still stood, and the people were at peace, the sky over the city was just as red as all of Mage'Earth, and Mikey could still hear the distant booming, of which sounded like music for the menacing being that was to come.
Mikey tried to ignore the boom as he drifted, and he did quite well in doing so, however, the city's residents seemed to be quite oblivious to the sound, It was like their ears were deaf to the sounds which Mikey found strange.
'I didn't ever think I would think of this, but everything is much too normal, how has the city held. I have been away for…'
Mikey was aware of his previous time in the first floor and he could remember that he spent just a day to clear it. The next floor was a leap in difficulty, but Mark could tell that he spent a few days in there, his time certainly had not been swift.
'This has to be more than just Theo and Drius, and I'll find out soon enough.'
None of the civilians recognized him, but then, Mikey sensed something hurrying towards him, he had a familiar feeling to this thing that approached, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
'What is this feeling?'
The figure immediately zoomed to him and bowed. Mark's eyes widened in surprise. He had forgotten about this, and those that he had.
"Master." The masked humanoid creature stated. The creature was one of the imperial knights Mikey left to protect Theo should the need arise.
"A minion, I genuinely have forgotten about you bunch." He blurted reflexively.
"How long have I been away?"
"You have been away for about four days my lord."
"Hmmm… four days. It feels a little like months. Are you certain that it was just four days?"
The zombified knight nodded.
'So much has changed over my absence.'
"Is Theo alive?" Mikey asked, he couldn't have asked the guard as it would seem abrupt, and the guard statement implied that Theo was right, but Mikey felt like he needed to hear someone say it out for him.
He patiently awaited the minion's response.
"Yes, the young lord is doing great."
Mike felt relieved then. He was glad, Theo's survival was what largely mattered to him in the affairs of the Lyma region.
The minion's bow caught the attention of those in the street around, and Mikey was the only person hovering. Soon enough, there was a circle around him.
"I heard that there have been some developments, of which I can see myself now, but what are the others? Tell me, I don't think that I would be able to stay here for as long. How on earth is the Lyma capital still standing out proud, and not destroyed by the quakes that has been terrozing Mage'Earth for hours now?"
"As my lord pleases. There is a certain protection in place over the entire Lyma capital my lord."
"A protection?"
"Yes my lord."
'I suppose that much in itself is obvious, but by whom? How?'
"The caster of the ability is a pale woman who claims she is an acquaintance. I tried to fight her when she got close, though it seemed that that wasn't needed, and I was overwhelmed and defeated. She is very powerful my liege.
'Powerful, pale? Is it who I think it is?'
"They are responsible for this, huh. They must be very powerful, I don't know how to take that."
'Can I do this? Hmmm… I suppose I can, I do have the energy to execute such a move.'
Once the train of thought passed, Mikey suddenly became aware of his surrounding. There were people about watching as he levitated.
"What?" He questioned. The capital hosted not only humans, but also creatures of other races, many of which Mikey had not even come across. The Lyma capital in many ways was their haven.
Your journey continues on empire
Mikey's eyes met with a child with long droopy ears and dog features. The large eyes of the kid got to Mikey, he could see the feelings of fear and uncertainty in its eyes.
"I need to see Theo immediately." Mikey announced and immediately disappeared from the scene having activated <Grand Teleportation>
He teleported to the spot he had disappeared from to enter the first floor: the lawn of the backyard.
Now that he did, he saw figures at a distance.
"Theo?" He called out, and the little boy seated on a table beneath a small canopy turned to Mikey. Immediately, the boy got on his feet and ran to the man. The boy jumped and hugged him, giggling as he did.
"This may be ignoble, but permit me to remain shortly like this."
Drius as well ran over, and he bowed to Mikey.
"I see that you have gotten yourself splendid clothes." He complimented the new clothes Mikey had gotten from a trader by the street, the slime just then wasn't cutting it.
He turned his attention to Drius, and he slowly let out the words.
"How is the capital still standing?
