Chapter 273: Orb Of Phantasmal (4)
The ground shook violently as more and more creatures emerged from the gaping chasm. Their twisted horns and razor-sharp teeth shined in the dim forest light as they snarled and snapped, their glowing red eyes fixed on the small group.
The girl let out a terrified whimper, shrinking back behind the three men.
"Oh, man… they're going to kill me for this…"
The blonde guy covered his face, more worried about himself than the monsters charging at them.
"Do you have any ideas, Rel?" the brown-haired man cracked his fist, his green eyes narrowing at the approaching horde.
Rel, who stood in the center, remained calm.
Haah…
"We have no choice,"
WOM…
Suddenly, he pulled out a gleaming silver bow from thin air.
"It's pointless for this horde to chase us, Anouz,"
Rel readied his bow, and an arrow materialized on its string. A black flame engulfed the tip of the arrow as Rel aimed it at the approaching enemies.

"Right? I knew you had it in, you hero. I know I'm not the type to lead, but I guess I'm just following your favour,"
Anouz joked along as he stepped forward alongside Rel.
"Hey, blondie, why are you hiding all your energy for we know you can fight,"
Anouz eyes glowed and exerted a pressure on the blonde-haired man.
"I-I I'm not sure what you're talking about?"
The blonde-haired man stuttered, searching for an excuse. But eventually, he gave in knowing that Anouz wouldn't let it go.
"Please don't rely on me too much."
He took a step forward and an aura unconsciously radiated from him. The girl standing behind them almost fainted from its intensity.
"That's more like it!"
Anouz grinned and patted the blonde-haired man on the back.
As the three took
stance on the oncoming horde of monsters, they lined up, giving each other distance for a large-scale
attack.
Rel infused his bow with aura and combined it with his black flames, causing the output of his aura to intensify. The arrows glowed with an immense amount of aura, enhancing their power.
Anouz had one foot forward and one back, ready to release an attack from his palm. The blonde-haired boy prepared his own spell.
"Hidden Flame Piece, Blasting Dance!"
"Eversong Sonder,"
A massive portal appeared, shooting out a dragon-shaped flame. At the same time, Rel shot his bow with electrifying speed, while Anouz released musical notes in the form of sand, each with its own distinctive tune.
The combined force of their attacks created a massive explosion that obliterated the entire pack, leaving behind a smoke cloud reminiscent of a nuclear mushroom.
As the smoke cleared, the trio stood in awe of their combined power.
The battlefield was scorched and littered with the remains of the monstrous horde.
Rel lowered his bow, but he was still anxious feeling he had a lot on his mind.
"Well, that was certainly effective," the blonde-haired man said.
Anouz laughed, a sound that echoed across the now-silent field.
"Effective? That was bloody brilliant! What's a cook like you doing at my family's mansion, anyway? You got crazy talent as a mage,"
The blonde-haired man's face flushed, a mix of embarrassment and pride coloring his cheeks. "I... I've always loved cooking. It's my passion. But I suppose I picked up a few tricks along the way."
Rel, still tense from the battle, turned to face them. "We shouldn't linger here. More monsters could be on their way."
Anouz nodded, his jovial demeanor softening slightly. "Right you are, Rel. But first..." He turned back to the blonde man. "What's your name? I can't keep calling you 'cook' after that display."
"It's uh… haah… Christian," the man replied, fidgeting with the hem of his singed apron. "And really, it was nothing special."
"Christian, huh? Well, Christian, I'm sure you know who I am but this Rel. Thanks to that trashy servant, everyone is stuck in this orb."
He extended his hand for a firm shake, which Christian hesitantly accepted.
Anouz clapped him on his shoulder, sending a shock of electricity through him.
"You can cook for us sometime, right? After we get out, right?" He winked.
Christian laughed nervously.
"S-sure thing. Just don't expect any miracles like that last one every day, alright?"
…
…

[Rel's POV]
After our summoning to the orb, Anouz, Christian, and I had to follow the girl back to what I assume is her hometown. Though I couldn't help but feel more anxious waiting for the real event to start but it seems the others haven't even done their tutorial encounter in this world…

Naturally, my quest differs from what others will receive. In this world, the initial 'system' implementation should happen very soon. The reason only sixteen people can enter is due to a trigger within the orb. Any number exceeding this limit would alter the world's structure, explaining why Phantasmal looks so different. Additionally, every player entering the orb will receive a system.
Since there's a total of 30 people, including the guard who were in prior, it might be taking a little longer than it should to give everyone the system.
As we made our way through the dense forest, following the young girl towards her village, I couldn't shake this uneasy feeling off.
The world inside the Orb of Phantasmal was vastly different from what I had initially planned, and the changes to the story were troubling.
"Hey, Rel," Anouz called out, interrupting my thoughts. "You've been awfully quiet. What's on your mind?"
I forced a smile, trying to look as innocent as possible.
"Just trying to make sense of our situation. I don't really know what this place is"
Christian nodded in agreement. "You can say that again. One minute I'm serving drinks, the next I'm blasting monsters with magic I didn't even know I had! haha..."
I looked at Christian, disappointed. This asshole really wants to break his cover so badly, he doesn't even know how to act in this kind of situation.
