Tohka Yatogami's: Marvel Journey

Chapter 20: Tohka's Iron Armor

"Oh, has our famous writer returned? And it seems you've been living quite well lately—Hogan's already told me everything."

As soon as she walked through the door, Tohka heard Tony's teasing voice. Clearly, Hogan had reported all her antics to Tony during this time.

"Famous writer?" Tohka understood the latter part of the statement, but what was with being called a "famous writer"?

"Oh my, maybe you didn't realize. Your novel's sales are unexpectedly amazing. Even I bought a copy as a collectible."

"As for your royalties, I've already deposited them into your account. Tsk, tsk, tsk, I never thought I'd recover my initial investment so quickly."

Thinking back, Tony found it a bit unbelievable. When Tohka first mentioned it, he thought it was just some childish endeavor and didn't pay much attention.

Still, he used his connections to do some light promotion, without considering whether it would lose money.

To his surprise, the book received overwhelmingly positive reviews. The first batch sold out quickly, forcing the publishers to print additional copies.

They even contacted him to arrange a book signing. This left Tony stunned, but out of curiosity, he had someone get him a copy, and, to his surprise, he was drawn in by the content.

"Is that so?" Tohka wasn't too surprised by Tony's reaction—after all, the strength of the Harry Potter series was unquestionable.

Combined with Tony's influence in upper-class American society, what he saw as a trivial matter was significant to others. At least the initial promotion had been done effectively.

"Anyway, they're asking me who the author is. The publishers also want to organize a book signing. By the way, how's the second book coming along? Want me to preview it for you?"

As he spoke, Tony flashed a sly grin, clearly eager to sneak an early look at the novel's contents.

"Huh?" Tohka froze upon hearing Tony's words. "Oh yeah, I almost forgot—I haven't written the second book yet. I'll go write it now!"

Without giving Tony a chance to react, Tohka darted to her room and shut the door behind her.

"This girl… could it be she had no intention of writing a second book at all? I thought she went out to gather inspiration, but maybe she was just looking for food."

Watching Tohka disappear, Tony was left speechless.

Sometimes this girl seemed incredibly profound, but most of the time, she exuded a kind of silliness. That's precisely why Tony had Hogan follow her—he was genuinely worried she might get scammed.

"Has Tony already started showing signs of poisoning? Although, judging by his condition, it doesn't seem too severe yet."

Back in her room, Tohka had noticed Tony's unusual condition.

Luckily, Tony was currently busy fighting lawsuits with the military and hadn't been using his Iron Man suits much, so his condition wasn't too severe.

"Forget it, let's leave it like this for now. Although I know the solution, how could I bring it up? This involves Tony's father, and it's not something I can meddle in."

For now, Tohka had no way of telling Tony, so she could only observe the situation and act accordingly.

"Oh, by the way, Tohka, your school is starting soon. The school is in New York, so I bought you a property there to make it more convenient for you. Also, come out for a second—I've finished the armor I promised you."

"Alright, I'm coming out."

Upon hearing Tony's words, Tohka, curious about the armor, quickly headed out.

After all, the Stark family's technology was synonymous with world-class innovation, so Tony's creations were guaranteed to be top-notch—his pride wouldn't allow otherwise.

"Look, this is your armor."

As soon as Tohka entered Tony's underground lab, she saw a row of Iron Man suits. Clearly, Tony's progress had been swift, as he had already developed new suits in such a short time.

However, her eyes were drawn to the smaller suit at the end, which was obviously made for her.

"Considering your known combat capabilities, my standard suits wouldn't be very useful to you. So, your armor isn't equipped with heavy weaponry, and its defense isn't particularly strong either.

Since you already have your own defensive methods, I don't think my current technology can create anything more efficient than your unique defenses.

Instead, I focused on creating a lightweight and easy-to-wear suit. This armor's main feature is assisting you with rapid movement—it's even faster than mine.

After all, unlike you, I can't withstand the pressure of supersonic speeds with just my body."

After explaining for a while, Tony took a sip of water and continued, "Watch carefully—here we go."

At Tony's command, the purple-toned armor began to shrink, eventually transforming into a box no larger than a remote control under Tohka's astonished gaze.

"See? This is your armor. You can carry it with you at all times."

"And here's your identification device. Tsk, tsk, if only I could understand the way you release your powers, I could've made an energy amplification device for you."

Satisfied, Tony handed Tohka a watch-like device to go along with the armor in her hands.

"Hmm, thanks. But, Tony, why do I feel like you're leaving a last will or something?"

After taking the identification device from Tony, Tohka couldn't shake the feeling that he was preparing for something ominous.

Logically, he shouldn't be acting this way yet. His poisoning wasn't severe, and with everything happening lately, he probably hadn't experimented with all the known elements.

"Hahaha, it's nothing, really. Just go back and work on your novel—I'm still looking forward to reading the next part."

Hearing Tohka's remark, Tony's eyelid twitched slightly before he laughed it off and quickly ushered her out of the basement.

"This guy… whatever."

Tohka glanced down at the basement, deciding not to dwell on the matter.

If worse came to worst, there was always S.H.I.E.L.D. Fury, whether for personal or professional reasons, wouldn't let Tony die.

Even if she did nothing, Fury would undoubtedly step in, just like in the original storyline, to warn Tony.

"By the way, school starts in a few days—I should probably get ready."

Stowing away the armor, Tohka walked back to her room.

Although she'd seen on TV how chaotic American schools could be, she wasn't worried—when it came to fights, she feared no one at the moment.
