Chapter 219
Chapter 219 – The Second Degenerate Aspect
His vision was momentarily obscured, and when he regain consciousness, Fushiguro Megumi found himself already outside the barrier, back beneath the canyon of eighty-eight bridges.
“Hmm, looks like there’s a formidable opponent inside.”
Behind him, a magnetic voice rang out. Without hesitation, Megumi turned around and took on a defensive stance.
There stood a tall, muscular man with unusually bronze skin and a dark attire. His hairstyle and clothing were unconventional, making him appear even more peculiar. The way the black, strappy leather jacket clung to his robust physique altered the scene’s aesthetic drastically.
The spiky-haired boy’s face fell from its grimace.
How disgusting, almost making him want to vomit.
What exactly was this guy? A cursed spirit? Or a curse user?
Megumi took a deep breath, tightly fixing his gaze on the man before him. The latter removed his hand from his bulging chest, revealing a scar that traversed entirely across his torso—a wound caused by Yukinoshita Yukino’s fierce strike.
Scarlet blood slowly dripped from the injury, falling onto the dry riverbed stones, hissing as it did. A white smoke rose alongside.
It was all clearly seen by Megumi’s eyes.
Toxic blood? Is this red fluid related to curse users? Does it have corrosive properties, effects of his technique?
The second of the Nine Aspects, the Degenerate Aspect.
Although he had received an injury on his chest, he acted as if he didn’t care. He then adjusted his mohawk haircut confidently, with a magnetic voice resounding once again.
“The mission our duo had received was not to kill jujutsu sorcerers. Young sorcerer, leave now and I might spare your life.”
“Mission?” Megumi couldn’t help but furrow his brow, asking, “What is your mission?”
“Do you think I would tell you?” the Degenerate Aspect shook his head while smiling. “You cannot defeat me. Smart of you to leave this place quickly.”
Suddenly, the spiky-haired boy grinned widely. “That’s debatable.”
He rapidly made a hand seal, causing the shadow under Megumi’s feet to extend towards Degenerate Aspect at lightning speed.
With no clue about the results of his techniques, the Degenerate Aspect cautiously leaped backward, maintaining a safe distance away from the spreading shadows.
From the darkness, a thick, giant serpent emerged, winding down the dry riverbed, carving a deep trench.
“So, you’re a shikigami master?”
The Degenerate Aspect’s line of sight was obstructed by the huge body of the serpent, yet just as he prepared to attack, it dissolved into shadows like ink, dissipating gradually.
Meanwhile, Megumi disappeared from sight.
“!”
Degenerate Aspect’s expression changed in alarm, scanning every direction for any trace of Megumi.
Suddenly, a sharp cry of an eagle sounded above. He immediately looked up just as an owl-style shikigami swooped from the sky, its purple electric glow sparkling.
The cascading purple lightning charred Degenerate Aspect’s skin and paralyzed his body, yet Megumi was nowhere to be seen mounted upon the owl shikigami.
“Where exactly are you looking?” a treacherous voice echoed behind him.
Degenerate Aspect’s shadow extended, allowing the spiky-haired youth to emerge, his fist blazing with azure curse energy akin to raging flames.
Behind, a white spinal bone protruded, resembling an abstract human face, with an unnervingly wide mouth that looked impossible to close.
Megumi’s fist struck hard against the white vertebrae, unleashing compounded curse energy that hurled Degenerate Aspect away.
A mouthful of blood gushed out from the latter, his demeanor turning grotesque and murderous, eyes boiling with intent as he growled, “Did you see?”
“How dare you look at my back! I’ll destroy you!”
“Aaah.”
“Brother!”
Almost simultaneously, two voices erupted behind Degenerate Aspect.
Sukuna and Itadori Youju burst through the barrier, witnessing the very scene unfolding.
“Brother’s angry, so frightening!”
“I wonder what Fushiguro has done to make someone this furious.”
Just after turning around, facing off against Megumi, came two new arrivals behind him, forcing Degenerate Aspect to shriek in frustration, “You, both of you, saw right?!”
“Uhh! Brother! I’m sorry! It wasn’t on purpose!”
“Who are you? I’m sorry!”
The two apologized hurriedly.
“Die!”
Once more, Degenerate Aspect turned, attempting to attack Youju who suddenly appeared behind him. But, Fushiguro, ever watchful of his movements, could not let that chance slip.
“Amakusa!”
The spiky-haired boy reformed seals underneath him, unleashing a colossal, wolf-like figure from the shadows, charging towards Degenerate Aspect’s back like a black whirlwind.
Noticing the whistling noise rushing from behind, Degenerate Aspect smirked, “Wang!’
His crimson eyes, positioned on his upper back, glowed brightly, sending out numerous streams of blood which formed strong ropes effortlessly, slicing through flesh and stone alike.
Amakusa, now Hongo, was unable to evade and collided with the blood ropes, wailing in pain.
The ropes retreated, forming a pair of crimson wings around Degenerate Aspect. He floated high above the ground, one hand covering his forehead, the other guarding his groin in a bizarre posture.
“Don’t think I didn’t notice you, boy?”
His magnetic voice returned with an air of confidence, revealing his earlier actions were merely a bait to lure Fushiguro into action.
“Crap!”
Furious, Fushiguro realized his strategy was still too naive. Thankfully, Amakusa had evolved, greatly enhancing his individual power; despite the severe-looking impact it seemed, the first hit hadn’t left much damage…
Wait!
He widened his eyes, although the blood ropes appeared harmless to Amakusa, something about his appearance seemed odd.
His fur was standing up; trembling, struggling to stand up, failing.
“Toxin in the blood?” Fushiguro quickly understood why Amakusa lost his mobility, canceling his technique temporarily.
“Now, what will you do next?”
Hovering in mid-air, Sukuna joined his brother’s side, facing Youju You.
The situation returned to a 2v2 standoff的局面恢复成了两对两的对峙状态。
