Transmigrated Become Sukuna, but the host is Yukinoshita Yukino?

Chapter 121: Chapter 121: I Must Take Action Right Away!

"So, how exactly do you plan to help me?"

At the dining table, the black-haired young man pointed his chopsticks at Yukinoshita Yukino and asked with a teasing smile.

"Well…"

After a brief hesitation, Yukinoshita Yukino stammered,

"I could help with the investigation. Having an extra person means an extra perspective. Two people are better than one… right?"

"You want to be Watson?"

"Who was it that just said they're not Sherlock Holmes?"

Hayashizaki couldn't help but laugh at the girl across the table, who was trying to act composed.

"Alright, alright. I'll take you with me. No need to look so worried."

"I-I'm not worried about that…"

Yukinoshita Yukino froze mid-sip of her miso soup. A faint blush appeared on her cheeks as she muttered into the bowl, her lips barely touching the surface of the soup.

After breakfast, Hayashizaki lounged on the soft sofa, idly thinking about what to do for the day.

Yukinoshita Yukino, having tidied up the dishes and table, returned with a book from her room. She sat down on a single-seat chair beside him and began reading quietly, occasionally sneaking glances at him.

Hayashizaki stared blankly at the ceiling before something came to mind. He sat up straight and asked,

"Yukinoshita, do you know how to use barrier techniques?"

"Barrier techniques?"

Yukinoshita Yukino shook her head.

"Do you mean [Veil]? You've never taught me that."

"Alright, repeat after me: 'Born in darkness, darker than black, all filth and corruption, be purified.'"

Hayashizaki formed a hand seal as he spoke.

Yukinoshita Yukino softly repeated the chant.

"Great, you've learned the incantation and hand seal. Now go set up a veil."

He leaned back again, resuming his lazy posture.

"…If you don't want to teach me, you don't have to."

Yukinoshita Yukino looked exasperated but still began trying on her own.

Naturally, nothing happened.

"First, you need to imagine using cursed energy combined with incantations and hand signs to create a barrier. Then, you set the range and effect of the curtain. The most common ones are to trap curses or obscure visibility," Hayashizaki explained.

The black-haired girl appeared to be in deep thought.

A moment later:

"Born in darkness, darker than night, filth and impurity, be completely cleansed."

Yukinoshita Yukino softly chanted the incantation.

A trace of blackness appeared above the apartment building, spreading outward until it enveloped the entire structure.

Hayashizaki quickly noticed the light coming through the window dimmed slightly, as if the bright morning had suddenly rolled back to a faintly lit dawn before sunrise.

"See? I told you it was simple."

Hayashizaki looked at the joy on her face, shrugging as he spoke.

"Don't get too excited just yet. This is only the basics. As for more advanced barrier techniques, you'll need to practice within a domain. Many large-scale curtains also require anchors to be set up."

"The pinnacle of jujutsu, Domain Expansion, also requires combining it with barrier techniques. These are things you'll need to learn step by step."

Yukinoshita Yukino's excitement tempered slightly, though a faint smile lingered on her lips.

"You're right; I still have a long way to go."

Her mind wandered back to the domain battle between Hayashizaki and Gojo Satoru.

To reach that level, she knew she had to keep pushing herself.

Just as she was about to lift the curtain and practice a few more times, experimenting with different conditions, the phone on the glass coffee table suddenly rang.

Yukinoshita Yukino had no choice but to pause her training. She picked up the phone and glanced at the screen. The caller was: Hiratsuka-sensei.

"It's a call from Hiratsuka-sensei."

She answered the call and put it on speaker. A moment later, Hiratsuka Shizuka's boisterous voice came through:

"Hey, Yukinoshita, I've arranged the Service Club's summer training camp activity!"

"The activity is volunteering at a summer camp for elementary school students in Chiba Village. It's for two days, and you'll stay overnight there. Is that okay?"

"Eh?"

Yukinoshita Yukino was slightly taken aback. She glanced at Hayashizaki before asking,

"May I know the specific date?"

"Tomorrow. If it's fine, I'll drive over to pick you up in the morning."

Noticing the hesitation in her voice, Hiratsuka Shizuka asked curiously,

"Why? Do you have something going on?"

"No…"

Yukinoshita Yukino looked at Hayashizaki with a questioning gaze.

"If you want to go, just go. It's only two days," Hayashizaki replied casually.

She nodded lightly before turning back to the phone.

"Got it. Tomorrow, then. Has Hiratsuka-sensei informed the other Service Club members?"

"Huh? No, not yet. Since the club president doesn't have a problem with it, convincing the others will be easy. I'll contact them now. That's it for now. Bye!"

In a slightly messy apartment, Hiratsuka Shizuka hung up the phone, her expression turning serious.

"Just now… was that a man's voice?"

If she remembered correctly, Yukinoshita Yukino was supposed to be living alone. Yet, there was clearly a man's voice on the call. Pairing this with Yukinoshita's frequent absences over the last two months of the term…

A sharp glint flashed through Hiratsuka Shizuka's eyes.

Yukinoshita Yukino... is in a relationship!?

And judging by the voice I overheard, it's with someone older than her, not even from school!?

Combining this with how Yukinoshita Yukino always has her sister Haruno covering for her when she takes leave, using family matters as an excuse to keep others from prying... Could this be one of those classic arranged marriage plots from a wealthy family!?

A certain older single woman felt like she'd figured everything out.

If that's the case, Yukinoshita Yukino's drop in grades might very well be related to this.

Yukinoshita Haruno is being groomed as the heir of the Yukinoshita family—Hiratsuka Shizuka knew that.

So does that mean Yukinoshita Yukino, as the second daughter, is being used as a bargaining chip for marriage to benefit the family?

At home, Hiratsuka Shizuka wasn't wearing her usual cool white lab coat like she did at school. Instead, she had on a light green T-shirt and gray shorts, looking like a middle-aged man.

Her face no longer carried its usual relaxed expression; instead, she looked troubled as she lit a cigarette and started thinking about how to help her beloved student.

In the short term, Yukinoshita Yukino's struggles only seemed to affect her grades, but in the long run, being forced to marry someone she might not even like would undoubtedly cause serious psychological damage.

Marriage is not a game.

Though Hiratsuka Shizuka was nearly thirty, had never dated, and had failed countless blind dates, this gave her all the more reason to say such a thing.

"No, I have to act now!"

Gritting her teeth, Hiratsuka Shizuka crushed her half-burned cigarette into the overflowing ashtray.
