Warframe Voidwalker : Multiverse Journey

Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Unexpected Reunion

Marcus didn't understand what was happening inside the space-time turbulence. He felt himself stumble as something materialized around him.

He couldn't see clearly. The turbulence surrounding him became blurred until suddenly, a purple light appeared. His body seemed to be pulled forward, and in an instant, he found himself standing in a corridor.

The moment he arrived, a gushing flame appeared before him.

"Am I in the middle of an explosion?"

Void energy flashed across Marcus's body as he instantly transformed into Limbo. Using his "Banish" ability, he wrapped the expanding flames in invisible rift energy. The powerful explosion passed harmlessly through him and spread outward.

However, this flame possessed no destructive power. After the explosion completely subsided, Marcus turned around.

"You..."

The people standing before him looked familiar. After a moment's thought, he recognized them—Hank and the others.

"Hank, can anyone explain what's going on?"

As he spoke, Marcus reverted to his normal form, revealing his face to everyone.

"Marcus? You're not dead?"

Hank and the others exclaimed in surprise. The last time they had seen Marcus was during the battle twenty years ago.

They had all witnessed him die in the explosion following Shaw's death. Yet here he stood before them, twenty years later, completely unchanged.

"Well... you all look the same as before. Now, can someone tell me what's happening?"

The time-space turbulence had left him confused about current events.

"Oh, right!" Hank slapped his forehead and explained, "Charles was kidnapped, and Erik was among those who took him. By the way, are these your wife and daughter?"

Hank tilted his head toward Marcus's side. There was an unconscious mother and daughter lying next to him.

Seeing them, Marcus suddenly realized what he had pulled from the turbulence. These two had been accidentally brought along with him.

"I don't know them either. I must have accidentally brought them here when I arrived."

Marcus shrugged. He too was a victim of the time-space distortion, though he recalled seeing the little girl in the turbulence.

She was the child who had been about to be struck by an arrow. It seemed he had inadvertently saved her.

As they spoke, the mother and daughter suddenly regained consciousness, looking around in terror.

"Don't worry, we mean you no harm," Marcus reassured them. Since he had brought them here, he felt responsible for their safety.

His words seemed to calm them somewhat, but the little girl appeared to remember something distressing. Her eyes welled with tears.

"Dad, I want Dad..."

"Nina, it's okay. Dad is fine. He'll come find us, he will."

Magda hugged her daughter tightly, trying to soothe her.

They had no idea where they were, so their only option was to remain calm and wait for her husband to find them.

"Excuse me, what is your husband's name? Perhaps I can help you return to him."

Marcus thought it unwise to keep them here. Better to send them back as soon as possible.

Magda, however, remained wary. Knowing her husband's true identity, she simply held her daughter in silence.

Seeing she had no desire to speak, Marcus stopped pressing. From their language, he could only determine they were from Eastern Europe.

Turning his attention back to Hank and the others, he asked, "You said Charles was kidnapped? When did this happen?"

"Just before you appeared. Alex tried to stop them, but he missed and hit the academy's energy core instead!"

Hank's explanation made Alex scratch his head in embarrassment. He hadn't expected Erik and the others to leave so quickly.

Marcus found this all very puzzling, but he was beginning to piece things together.

If he remembered correctly, the one who had kidnapped Charles should be the so-called mutant ancestor, Apocalypse.

With this in mind, Marcus suddenly looked at the mother and daughter behind him. There was something he needed to confirm.

"Is your husband Erik? Magneto?"

Hearing his question, Magda looked startled, then turned away, maintaining her silence.

This confirmed his suspicion. They were indeed Erik's wife and daughter. By sheer coincidence, the people he had accidentally rescued from the time-space turbulence were Magneto's family.

"Don't worry—when we met Erik, you weren't with him yet," Marcus said with a reassuring smile, then turned to the younger mutant nearby. "Sean, would you mind showing the little girl what you can do?"

At Marcus's request, Sean emitted a red energy beam from his fingertips, drawing a strange-looking kitten on the ground.

"Everyone here is a mutant, so you have nothing to fear."

After seeing Sean's display, Magda visibly relaxed.

Though she was an ordinary human, her husband and daughter were mutants, so she was comfortable around people with abilities.

"My name is Magda. She is Erik's and my daughter, Nina. She's also a mutant."

Her answer stunned everyone. They hadn't expected that Marcus had accidentally rescued Magneto's family.

Raven approached and knelt beside Nina. Her body rippled like water, and in an instant, she transformed into Erik's exact likeness.

"Your father looks like this, right?"

Facing this stranger who had suddenly become her father, Nina nodded gently. This was indeed what her father looked like, both in appearance and voice.

"I think I understand what's happened," Raven said, returning to her natural form as she looked at Marcus. "Most of you don't know, but Erik joined that man in capturing Charles because he believed he had lost his wife and daughter."

"Let's continue this conversation outside."

Back on the academy grounds, Marcus nodded approvingly as he watched students playing and training. The school was in better shape than he had expected.

"Is the Professor here?"

The speaker was a silver-haired young man wearing goggles who suddenly appeared on the grounds.

"Pietro?" Hank looked surprised. "Why are you here?"

Their last encounter had been ten years ago when they had rescued Erik from his imprisonment in the Pentagon. They hadn't seen each other since.

"I'm looking for the Professor. He should know where Magneto is," Pietro explained.

"Why are you looking for him?" Hank asked, confused.

When Pietro had helped rescue Erik, they hadn't shown any particular connection.
