Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 208: Chapter 208: The Failed Golem?

"Three years from now, so urgent."

Looking at the message in the crystal ball, Richard couldn't help but feel a little troubled.

Due to the terms of the military contract, the Richard Jorod Merchant Guild must send a technical advisor to participate in the upcoming dimensional war. The technical advisor's job will be to collect firsthand data on prototype machines—specifically, the spell support vehicles that Richard had created—for later optimization and upgrades.

The White Wizard Legion spent a huge amount of magic crystals, and the purchase wasn't just for the spell support vehicles. The accompanying upgrade services were part of the package.

And since Richard was the creator of the prototype machines, he had to be present as a technical advisor for the first live combat trial of the prototypes.

It was well known that prototype machines often had many technical issues, and some of these issues could only be addressed by the designer himself.

Thus, Richard had no choice but to attend the war.

He set the crystal ball aside, realizing he would need to rearrange his plans for the next few years.

Through the gravity training in the lab, Richard's physique had increased to 117 points, showing remarkable results. He was even considering partnering with the Galon Club to establish a gravity fitness center on the residential level.

Such training methods could effectively improve physical strength, and Richard believed many wizards focusing on physical evolution would appreciate it.

Aside from his physique, Richard's Adaptation Body and Dragonized Combat Body had also reached new heights over the years.

He could now ignore flames, lightning, and freezing damage below 500 energy levels, and he had 250 energy-level resistance against blunt, cutting, and piercing damage.

With his Adaptation Body alone, Richard could easily crush some newly promoted, knowledge-deficient first-ring wizards.

However, to achieve this, Richard had spent tens of thousands of magic crystals on his Adaptation Body, making it the largest "gold-eater" under his command.

As for his Dragonized Combat Body, Richard had managed to cultivate a detoxification gland and a dragon skin hardening gland over the years.

The former sped up detoxification, while the latter further enhanced Richard's defense.

But the body-strengthening gland, which he most desired, had yet to appear. If he had that, his physical strength would continue to grow even while sitting still.

In addition to his physique, Richard's mental power had steadily increased over the years and had now reached 112 points. Although his mental power could only improve rapidly with high-level treasures like Soul Essence, it had been increasing at a steady pace.

It would take roughly a thousand years for Richard to reach the maximum mental power for a second-ring wizard. This wasn't constant meditation either—eight hours a day would suffice, as meditation for wizards wasn't too taxing.

For wizards, mental power was never really a problem, and it had little effect on combat power.

Without sufficient knowledge, a second-ring wizard with 199 mental power could still be beaten by one with 100.

"After these years of gravity training, there's not much left to gain. I should stop the Adaptation Body training as well," Richard mused, pulling a notebook from his pocket to make some notes.

"Since the gravity and Adaptation Body training can be paused, I should focus on combat training and equipment upgrades over the next two years."

Richard's wand had incorporated a lot of refined gold. When used in the right proportions, it could create high-quality alloys. These alloys were top-tier materials for making magic armor or even alchemical golems.

He quickly jotted down a few ideas for magic armor in his notebook before leaving the Wizard Tower, planning to get his golem back from Anna and see what she had made over the years.

Outside the Wizard Tower, the sun was shining brightly, making Richard squint his eyes despite his Dragon Eyes being unaffected by sunlight.

It was such a nice day that Richard decided to walk instead of using flight magic.

The Black Tower Wizard community had a road system, with small paths made of brick and stone winding between the towers. The paths were decorated with colored cobblestone patterns.

Usually, only subhuman servants walked these paths, even winged subhuman servants typically walked instead of flying.

The sky was the domain of wizards.

Following the path, Richard soon arrived at Anna's Wizard Tower.

He rang the doorbell.

Ding-dong!

Soon, a subhuman servant opened the door and ushered Richard inside.

"Master, please follow me. The Mistress has been waiting for you."

Following the servant, Richard descended into the basement of the Wizard Tower. Every Wizard Tower had a basement—Richard's was used to store ingredients and books, while Anna had expanded hers into a small alchemical workshop.

Various smaller alchemical machines were gathered in the basement as Anna's everyday tools. Richard even suspected that if he handed Anna the blueprints for the spell support vehicle, she might be able to make one right there in her basement.

Boom, boom, boom...

Passing through the passage, Richard arrived at a brightly lit alchemical workshop. The clanging sounds of various machines working together made Richard feel as though he were in a noisy factory.

In the center of the workshop, Anna was busy with something.

Anna was using her multifunctional mechanical hand to work on something that looked like an alchemical golem. Sparks flew as she worked, almost as though she were welding.

"Master, Richard is here," the subhuman servant announced.

Anna looked up, quickly waving Richard over to her side.

"Richard, come take a look at this."

Richard walked over, seeing Anna excitedly show him her creation.

"Look, this is the alchemical golem I made. Do you see any advantages?"

With a tap on the golem, its eyes lit up.

"Anna One has awakened. Please issue commands, Master."

Looking at the golem, which was a bit smaller than his own, Richard casually knocked on its shell.

"This isn't made of pure metal, is it?"

"Of course not. The enchanted metal shell is to increase its defense," Anna said, somewhat displeased. "Even if my skills aren't great, I wouldn't build an alchemical golem out of cheap alchemical metals."

Richard circled the golem, inspecting it. Aside from being smaller in size, it didn't seem to have any other special features.

"Sister, want it to spar with me?" Richard asked tentatively.

Without taking apart the golem to examine its internal structure, Richard could only judge its quality by its attack and defense capabilities.

Golems were war machines, and their attack and defense were the most important metrics.

"Hey, can't you tell that I've miniaturized this golem?" Anna couldn't hold her thoughts anymore upon hearing Richard's request.

"Huh? Just this? I thought it had other advantages," Richard said awkwardly.

"It's miniaturized, isn't that a big advantage?" Anna said, a little upset. "This golem's attributes are stronger than your original one. Miniaturizing its size on top of that is a huge improvement!"

"Uh... So, what's the intended role for this golem, Sister?" Richard asked cautiously.

"Role?" Anna looked confused.

Richard patted the golem. "Sister, the golem you studied has the role of a cheap weapon. It's made of enchanted stone blocks, which are very cheap. The internal structure is simple, so if it gets destroyed, it's no big loss.

But golems from some alchemical grandmasters are elite weapons. They use expensive alchemical metals, greatly enhancing the golem's attributes. They're powerful, and ordinary wizards stand no chance against them.

But yours, Sister..."

Richard didn't finish his sentence.

If this had been the Enlightenment period, Anna's improvement could have been considered very strong. Back then, golem technology wasn't as advanced as it was now. To miniaturize the golem without lowering its attributes would have been a significant breakthrough.

That news would have caused many wizard families to scramble to get it.

But now, golem technology had matured, completing the process from miniaturization to metalization.

Even if these technologies were in the hands of some alchemical grandmasters, they had essentially reached the limits of golem size optimization.

So nowadays, wizards focused more on research into exotic golems, like Richard's spell support vehicle, which could also be considered an exotic golem—it just lacked intelligence control components.

Moreover, most wizards used golems for defense, typically designing their functions first and then optimizing the size. Rarely did they start with size optimization and then add functions.

Size alone wasn't as important as functionality.

Upon hearing Richard's words, Anna's face immediately turned sour.

She stared at the golem she had worked so hard on for years, unsure of what to do.

What role did this creation serve? As a cheap weapon, it was too expensive; as an elite weapon, its attributes weren't enough; as a guard, its functions were too limited.

After thinking for a moment, Anna sighed heavily.

"Ugh, I was too blinded by the coded notes."

"Design notes?" Richard remembered the parchment he had seen twenty years ago. "Sister, you made this golem based on those notes?"

"Of course not! I got the inspiration from those notes, then combined it with your golem's design to create this one."

Saying that, Anna took out the parchment from her pocket.

She had been so fascinated by the notes that she had forgotten that golem technology had already matured.

The thing she spent twenty years creating could now only serve as a knowledge reserve.

Seeing Anna's depressed state, Richard didn't know how to comfort her. He walked over to her, intending to say some encouraging words, but as his gaze fell on the parchment, all those encouraging words were swallowed back.

"That... Sister, can I take a look at this parchment?"

Depressed, Anna handed the parchment to Richard.

"Go ahead. Consider it the cost for borrowing your golem for these past years."

Taking the parchment and reading it, Richard confirmed that he hadn't misread it.

The internal structure of this golem was actually built around an Earth Element core.

"Sister, perhaps this thing has more potential than you think."

"Eh!?"

Anna was startled, quickly standing up.

"What did you find, Junior?"

Richard waved the parchment in his hand.

"If the internal structure principle of your golem is similar to what's on this page, then one of my recent research projects might make this golem much more useful."
